What kind of monitor is best for the PS4

Hi guys

I'm currently looking for a monitor for my future PS4 and I'm not sure what specs it should have for a very good gaming experience.
It should be about 24'' to 27'' as I'll be playing on my desk. There are different types of displays such as TN or IPS and as far as I know, an IPS panel normally has better picture but less reaction time (?). Now what would fit the PS4 better, a TN or IPS panel?
Also, are there any other important features the monitor should have?

Many thanks for answering!

I can't give you the best advice ever, but I can give you some hints that may or may not help. For all I know, you're already familiar with these concepts.

First off, the Dynamic Contrast Ratio. You know the one, it's typically a number in the millions. Ignore it. The number basically doesn't mean anything and is akin to the marketing lingo used to describe "blast processing" on the Sega Genesis. Look for the ACTUAL contrast ratio, which should most likely be in the range of thousands or tens of thousands. This is real data.

Next, get something with a short response time. If it's 7 ms, it's not going to be a great monitor. 5 ms is the standard, but it isn't fantastic. The best monitors have a response time of between 1 and 2 ms. Aim for this.

As for the rest, I probably can't be of much help. Avoid companies like Viewsonic, but don't necessarily shy away from companies like BenQ, HP or Dell. For instance, BenQ is typically a budget monitor, but they also use Sony screens. Sony + Sony is probably a good bet.

I hope this helped out. :)

Honestly, the wireless controller and the outdated hardware will hold you back more in areas where reaction time matter. I would say you should go for a nice 1080p IPS panel.

Well you want a nice 1080p screen to start off with. I don't know what IPS and TN is but as long as you have nice crisp colour then who cares? HD is the way forward. Also try and get the biggest screen you can as I find you notice much more than on a smaller screen!
