What PS1 game has the coolest cutscene?

The PlayStation is home to some of the games with the best cutscenes that were ever made. Games like Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Tekken, Chrono Cross, and Parasite Eve headline the games with best CG movies. Which PS1 game do you think has the coolest, most memorable or most beautiful cutscene or CG movie? I'm vouching for Final Fantasy VIII's dance scene with Rinoa and Squall on this one.

Square (before merging with Enix) really made some great games accompanied by even greater cutscenes. The Final Fantasy series is a good example from that, but then there are others like Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story and Chrono Cross, which were also great.

Yeah, Square is one of the best when it comes to CG sequences. FF8 was the very first game that awed me with extremely beautiful CG cinematics. It was such a huge leap from FF7 that I couldn't believe my eyes.

So which cutscene has really stuck with you BlackSolaris? I'm sure that you still remember quite a few. Maybe your favorite is the shower scene in Parasite Eve 2? Lol.

I have to agree, Square had the best CG sequences back in the day, and I'd assume that's why so many people are inspired artistically by the Final Fantasy series. I really enjoyed the opening cutscene for FFVII because the introduction music was just so fitting along with the video, and because the intro revealed the sheer magnitude of the city. It doesn't help that playing Crisis Core just makes me like that cutscene even more!

I didn't play enough games to have an objective opinion, but my favorites were the various endings of Twisted Metal 4. I spent a lot of time playing the Twisted Metal games and, at the time, those cutscenes were the coolest things I'd ever seen in a game. It wasn't until much later that I saw Final Fantasy VIIs cutscenes, which are still pretty cool, but by then games had progressed quite a bit farther graphics-wise.

Here are the Twisted Metal 4 endings that Joker9352 is talking about. I really don't like the Twisted Metal games because they give me a headache but the endings are, well, twisted enough to encourage gamers to play it. It looks as though they're not as well made as the cutscenes of Square though.

I think the cut-scenes in Metal Gear Solid were always pretty cool. I think Final Fantasy has to be up there with some of the best cut-scenes, they really put a lot of effort into maintaining a common atmosphere between the cut-scenes and the game-play.

During my Playstation 1 years, I considered this as the best cutscene ever. I was so in love with this cutscene that I even presented it on a certain role playing activity in our class. It was one of the weirdest moments of my life, yet I regret nothing.

Indiguhnaysyun!

I'm a huge RPG buff, so I think both Lunar the Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar Eternal Blue Complete had some of the prettiest, most colorful and jaw dropping cut scenes on the PS1. The anime flair, the voice acting, the animation were all just top notch. But enough gushing, I also feel that FFIX had some fantastic cut scenes as well.

As you can tell, I lean heavily towards RPGS.

Ha, I love that game, especially Calypso's ending. More than just the cutscenes, it's the gameplay which I really enjoy the most. Calypso's Nuke Mobile in TM4 is a blast.

Yeah, Calypso was really cool in that game. Sort of an overpowered weapon, but it was really fun to use. I just watched that video a couple of weeks ago just out of curiosity, since I hadn't seen them since I used to play the game, and it was funny to see how far the graphics have progressed since then. The Twisted Metal series was the first time I played a game with a darker premise, so it's particularly significant to me.

In regard to FFVIII: it's cool that a console with graphics like the ones on FFVII can have cutscenes that look that good. It gives me hope that the Xbox One and the PS4 will gradually improve as time goes on, since most consoles seem to do that.

I vote MGS. Psychomantis's cutscene was seriously the most badass point in gaming at its time. And the fact it read your saves, knew if you had rumble controls, etc. It was so ahead of it's time, it was like an interactive cutscene, pre-interactive cutscenes.

Yup, the Metal Gear Solid cutscenes were cool. The only problem with that is they looked very pixelated because the in-game engine was used to generate the cinemas. I think that they did this in order to make it as seamless as possible so that the transition between actual gameplay and cinematics would be very thin.

I agree that FF had some of the most beautiful cutscenes on the PS1, and they might even be the ones that really started the trend of the types go games we have now, in my opinion. I remember first playing this game and being absolutely amazed with the quality they were able to come up with, and I suspect it was the case for many others around the world as well when this came out. It was truly the first of its kind and after watching the video it still amazes me to this day. The fluidity in the movement was really something to marvel at and it really set the standard for all other games that aimed to do the same.

I would have to say Final Fantasy VII had the best cut scenes of the PlayStation One era. Square-Enix is known for their high end visuals so it was great to them put the PlayStation technology at the time to good use. The most memorable scene from the whole game would have to be without a doubt the scene involving Sephiroth and Aerith. I won't spoil it, but let's just say that it would bring tears to anyone's eyes.

Was that the scene where Aerith is finally put to rest by Sephiroth?

Uh, woops.

Hope I did not spoil it for the others. At least, they'll be prepared for the things that would transpire.
