What was the PS Vita's greatest selling point?

In order for a product to sell and be successful in the market, it should have cool features that would somehow convince the consumers to buy the said product. It is through these features that would either make or break the fate of a product.

With that, I would like to ask, what was/were the PS Vita's greatest selling point(s)? For those who actually bought it, what convinced you to buy the product despite the bad reviews?

The hardware is the best gaming handheld that i ever seen in my life. And it's just going to get better once some games come out or the OS gets hacked and we can play anything on that beautiful screen.

I didn't buy the Vita because of the low battery life and the little improvement from the PSP to the Vita. Looking solely at the Vita alone, while it has a lot of bad points, I feel that one of the good points was the rear touch pad and the dual analog sticks.

I think it delivers excellent graphics and has quite an impressive specifications for a handheld device. Comparing it to other handheld devices going back a few year it's improved dramatically, and so the greatest selling point I would say is the graphics and also quality of gameplay is excellent for the size of it, and that means it's of course portable too.

I don't think this is a good question to ask now, maybe after the release date for the PS4, or a little before.

Why? Because they enabled remote play for the Vita. I think it's a way to boost sales for the Vita, but at the same time, is a really useful feature.

They enabled remote play for the Vita? It's quite sad that a Sony fan like me didn't know that. I agree with you that having that feature would result to a boost of sales for the Vita. Nice move, Sony.

It's what Sony apparently stated in their article. It is actually a really wise and clever choice now that I think about it. That's why I prefer Sony over Microsoft most of the time.

I agree with this. It had one of the best specs for a handheld gaming device! Maybe I'll buy the device once it gets hacked . The games are too expensive in my country. My parents will not allow me to spend such on games alone.

Hah, for me it was just that they had ported over Persona 4, and I desperately wanted to play it! Aside from that, there have been fairly decent sales on the bundles, and the Vita is an amazing piece of hardware right now. I can only hope emulation comes out better, or maybe Sony can start releasing PS2 ports for the Vita, and all will be good!

Yeah the hardware is really great. I'm sure it will pump up in sales when some more games come out. It's competitor the 3Ds is a pretty formidable opponent as well.

Definitely the dual touch pads and the hardware abilities. The dual sticks make it capable of playing many games, such as ones that require the camera to be maneuvered, shooters and twin stick shooters. The graphics are also quite powerful and are like early graphics of the ps3. The hardware has beautiful capability that can make people surprised they're playing a handheld.

Sure the graphics, dual analog pads are a very nice touch, but I think that Sony was waiting on the PS4 to fully realize it's potential. I agree, hopefully they don't make it like the WiiU wherein you'd have to be at home near the console to be able to play games on your handheld. Also, I am hoping they will make a new Vita design because I don't like the current one that much, including the software interface. As for the benefits of getting one, I think I favor the ability to play such high quality games and possibly using it for the PS4 are the greatest advantages, as our members here have mentioned already. I'm probably going to get one along with the PS4 in a year or so when the prices drop.
