what's the deal with no Playstation ads?

I'm always seeing Xbox ads especially if it has to do with Kinect. But where are the Playstation ads? I never see any on TV or even on the web. Playstation Move could give Kinect a run for its money, but people have to hear about it first. Playstation better get on the move, no pun intended, with the holiday season approaching.

I don't see many console ads at all these days and I wonder why. I do see lots of game commercials. I wonder if it's just due to the channels that I watch. I do think that they need to get some ads up if they intend to get people to purchase consoles for the holidays. Maybe they are just trying to push games this year since they don't have new consoles out?

I love Playstation but I disagree that Move is better than Kinect. Two words: no controller. I had my PS3 Move for a few weeks before selling it but that was likely because there were no enjoyable games out for it at all. The sensitivity was much better than with the Wii, though.

I'm biased, but I would say the lack of PS3 commercials is because Xbox has to try harder to compete

Maybe they're saving their money for a commercial push starting in a few weeks. If they advertise it well it'll look new and kids will want it for Christmas.

I'd noticed this too. I do see a lot of online adds for Playstation and games and such, so maybe their focusing their advertising dollars more online?

Not much advertising on TV, it's true,... but you know what they say: a good product will sell itself, with no need for promotion at all. Maybe the Playstation sales are so good that Sony decided to invest more into the next generation consoles than into advertising. It's no surprise that there are more Xbox commercials. Leave it to Microsoft to do everything they can to steal the show...

I think Sony tend to advertise mainly online,you do however see more on TV around Christmas and also when Sony are going to do a price drop.
I would like to think we will start to see more PS4 adverts soon or else Xbox will steal all the thunder.

For the PS4, I think they're just doing a grand release. They have already showed a spoiler PS4 video, with literally no information at all, but I think they're working on it as we speak. Once the commercial, or short video will be released, the news will advertise for them.

They are taking the right choices. Let's be honest, the Playstation Move is not the best thing that exists out there, so, smart as they are, Sony just let it die on it's own and didn't force it down our throats!

I think TV advertising has perhaps died down for gaming because they are most likely to be on the internet than watching the TV (or of course playing games). This is just my theory though, either that or TV is becoming dead as a whole, I'm not a big fan of TV myself so I can't say I'd be too disappointed.

Ive seen Playstation Advertised on TV but not since their price drop last year and before that when the Move was released.

Again I think they'll wait until a few weeks before launch and then they'll go all out with the TV, Newspaper and Online Ads.
Maybe they should put Ads on in The Big Bang Theory commercials lol!

As already pointed out, Microsoft is every where, in the Newspapers and TV here in the UK but with their lower unit prices they've got to sell more to make more profit whereas Sony try to keep their higher prices and sell less units - this way their console is seen to be "worth more" in the long run.
