What's Your Favorite Book?

I know we must have some of the elite literature connoisseurs. What great books have you read recently, or maybe in the distant past, that you thoroughly enjoyed every page.

For me, it's probably Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It's not a classic, but a great read for gamers. It's about a sort-of post apocalyptic future in which all business, recreation, education, etc. is done within the confines of an MMO. The book begins when the creator of the MMO passes away and leaves easter eggs within the MMO for players to find. Whoever finds all the easter eggs inherits the creator's entire fortune. The plot of the novel relies on its nostalgia driven references and incorporates them well into the main storyline. It's honestly a fantastic read. If you haven't heard of it, make sure to look it up, because I think there are probably some people on this forum who would enjoy it as well.

I hate to say this because I do get laughed at, but... The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown :o

I'm not much of a reader. I used to be but yeah. I've read all his books except for The Lost Symbol and Inferno, but The Da Vinci Code is by far his best.

I also enjoyed A Stir of Echoes by Richard Matherson and Pet Cemetery by Stephen King.

One of the most cliche answers is the Lord of The Rings trilogy, but that's my pick. I've read all 3 books multiple times, and I always get something new out of them with each read.

Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger. This book impacted me when I read it in 11th grade. I re-read it a few years ago and it was still great but not as great as I remembered. It has a lot of that teenage angst that appeals to the reader when he's in the thick of high school's all encompassing stress. I also recommend Keep The Aspidistra Flying by George Orwell and Fahrenheit 451.

My favorite book? It's the Kama... oops, almost forgot, this is a wholesome forum...

I love the Harry Potter series! I also love the books of Dan Brown. And I also love The House of the Scorpion. I love reading fantasy novels and detective novels. :)

Not really a great plotline book, but the book that has made the biggest impact on me is Emotional Freedom by Judith Orloff. That book helped me a lot with handling emotions and stress. I'd recommend it to anyone have stress issues.

Karma Sutra is unrealistic as a self-help book. I might be able to pull off about 3 of the 300 'suggestions'.

My favorite book is The Giver by Lois Lowry. I read it back during in middle school and I just loved it. It shows what a person can do for compassion and love. There's a movie that's being made based on the book.

I have too many favorite books to name here, but I will name one of my classic favorites. I like Interview With A Vampire by Anne Rice. I am an avid vampire lover and I love reading vampire novels amd watching vampire movies. I am picky though I just don't read or watch any vampire novel or movie. It has to grab my attention from the start or I will put it down and find something else.

Lately, I've been reading books written by Agatha Christie almost exclusively. The first AC book I've read was The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, and since then I couldn't get enough of her books. She really is the foremost mystery writer of our time. If you haven't read any Agatha Christie book and if you love crime and thrillers, I suggest you grab one of her books now!

Have you read, And Then There Were None? If you enjoy Christie you will enjoy Dashiell Hammett who is famous for his hard-boiled noir and essentially created the genre.

Hey, DaVinci Code was a great book! I agree that the others by Dan Brown aren't quite as good.

Non-fiction, I'd go with Influence: The Power of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini. If you own your own business, it kicks butt. Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell is also a great non-fiction book.

Fiction, well, I read a bunch of crap. A lot of said crap is made into movies for the younger generation. Whatever. I like it damnit! Hunger Games, the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth, Harry Potter (not the movies), etc. Yeah, I read kiddie novels. I admit it.

My favorite book or books are "The Dark Tower" novels by Stephen King. It is one long story spanning seven books and is one part western and one part science fiction peppered with extreme violence and time travel. I have read most of Stephen King's novels and these to me are his very best because I feel he enjoys writing these books more than any other that he has written and he has said as much in interviews. Often they are overlooked and dismissed in his works, I guarantee one hundred years from now these will be the books that will still sell when we are all dead and gone. My favorite novel in the series is the second "The Drawing Of The Three" it really dives into the story and really defines who these characters are what kind of situation they are in.

My favorite book series of all time. You sir, have won my heart.

It's a bit childish, but my favorite book is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I read that book over 5 times as a kid. The second book is great too (Charlie and the Great Class Elevator).

Roald Dahl is amazing.

The Eragon series and Philip Pullman's Dark Materials have got to be my long term favourites from childhood and even if you are an adult, they are such creative masterpieces you will feel honoured to read and be apart of them. I want to get into some Terry Pratchett however because everyone says his imagination is spectacular and writes very well.
