Which Game Have You Regretted Buying Instantly?

Fallout 3 was my biggest disappointment.

I absolutely loved Oblivion (Skyrim was cool too), and I tried hard to get into Fallout but the setting just didn't do it for me, which is odd cause I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic reading.

Just wasn't a fan of the design and gameplay mechanics I guess

I really didn't like Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest or L.A.I.R. In fact, Rygar too was a bad game, I mean it was a BIT fun with the whole magic/combo actions but the story, graphics, the elements in general was horrible.

I'd say FFXIII. I'm an RPG purist (old school or nothing and everything else might be entertained), but I couldn't get into this. I was thinking it would spark my interest in FF again since I haven't cared for it since FFX, but nah.

But oh wait we're focusing on Playstation games! In that case I regret buying Red Faction: Guerrilla. It was cheap and on sale, but I just really didn't enjoy the gameplay. Oooh look you can break things! Now go on a ton of repetitive missions. :|

I played that but never finished it, I was initially impressed by the cool physics of the destruction that was featured in the game, but it wasn't enough to keep me hooked through out the repetitive missions.

Unlimited Saga. I bought that game because I'm thinking "Oh, it must be in the Romancing Saga series." It was in vaguely...like a cousin. Got to the bus stop which was across the lot from GameStop and waited while reading the back and was thinking "...this is the drizzling shits." I could've taken it back, but I had no clue when the bus was coming and it was a Saturday (meaning they ran every 2 hours)...alas I was stuck with that shitty game.

Modern Warfare 3. I loved Black Ops and played it constantly. It was the first and only CoD game that I had played, and when I saw that a new one was coming out I thought "Hell yeah i'll get that!". The game was nothing like what I expected and while I was averaging a solid 2kd ratio in black ops, I was struggling to keep my 1.3 in MW3.

I regret not getting Infamous 1. I played it, just never picked it up. I could just pick it up. It's not like it's just full on out of print now lol.

Really? You didn't get Infamous 1? Wow that's kind of surprising given how long the PS3 has been out.

Eh..only game I hated buying instantly was Dante's Inferno...I never got into the game or style of combat.

Eh another one would be Fallout new vegas. I bought that game at launch and then sold it quickly and then revisited the game around a year later and loved it :D

I've heard a few people regretted Dante's Inferno. The game looked great visually and they had one of the best marketing campaigns I've seen. After they ran a Super Bowl commercial for the game the minimum it should've been was good. Instead it was good at best or good at times depending on if you've never played God of War.

The Batman game a bought a year ago. It's lame and boring, I prefer the movies and the comics. The game just isn't real enough! It's a bit slow to start off with and, I don't know, just feels like a waste of money.

Definitely CoD: Ghosts.
They promised many things and delivered nothing. I was expecting a more skill-based multiplayer but I got the same thing as always. I played for an hour and decided to sell to my cousin. I think I'm going to buy BF4 once they fix the issues the game has.

I would have to say Metal Gear Rising. I think I was expecting something more like metal gear 4 as I had been playing that right before the announcement of rising. I was so excited to play this game and bought it as soon as it was released. I don't think I even played through the first level. I was extremely dissapointed with the game.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

I still don't know why I bought that game, I still don't know why I haven't traded it in yet either.

The only game that I can truly say I regretted buying within hours of playing has to be 'Rage'. Being from the makers of Doom, as clearly advertised, I had very high expectations of this game. A modern version of an old classic. Instead, what we got was something which I found not terrible, but nothing like what I was expecting. One of the biggest disappointments I've had in purchasing a game for a very long time.

On a slightly different note, my older brother at Christmas/Birthdays likes buying me games from the COD franchise. I've played several of them and felt "meh" towards every single one of them. I don't know what it is, but just about any FPS game I've played within the last decade have all looked, felt and played much in the same way as one another. Very 'generic'. A franchise which in my opinion is well and truly saturated.

This might come as a shock to many, however I regretted buying Skyrim when it first came out.

Me too! Well, I rented it, but I just couldn't get into it at all. it was drawn out and kinda boring to me.

Another game is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. I bought it trying to get into the genre, so many people talk about it and I figured I would jump into it. But again, this wasn't for me really. I even tried again a few weeks ago, but with the same result. Ugh.

Can't believe no one said this. Aliens: Colonial Marines. I was hyped up like hell before it came out and regretted it as soon as I started playing. Glad I didn't let the guy at GameStop talk me into getting the season pass. Though I got Dead Space 3 a week later so I forgot about it :)

Any of the call of duty games. I swear its like every year... My friends play it, I hear good things about, dish out 60$ and.... I hate it. Its always the same lame game repackaged in a shiny new case.

Fallout: New Vegas (First Fallout game, had no idea what to expect, got super lost) and any Call of Duty game after Black Ops, very big disappointment.

Then why buy it?

I find it funny that people keep getting disappointed by CoD. I mean you know what to expect whenever they come out with a new one. They've followed the same exact same formula for years. And Activision and the developers have said the formula works so they aren't really changing much. So why is everyone so surprised its the same game every year? And why is everyone buying it, knowing what it will be then complaining they bought it? I don't get it and I'm getting off my soapbox now.
