Which Game Have You Regretted Buying Instantly?

Well played KMJ lol. But still, wouldn't there be other games friends can play together that's not CoD? Maybe its just me :(

I have a cousin who used to get me FPS for Christmas. It's like getting socks or shaking a box and knowing its clothes. They're something you get any other time of the year except for Christmas when disappointment in getting something you don't careful is multiplied. He got them because he wanted games we could play together online--even though I said 99% of the games I play on home console are single player.

...nothing against people who like getting socks on Christmas. Different strokes for different folks.
 
Can not really think of a game that I regret tremendously because I tend to look into games a bit more than some people even with games that I am really hyped for. I guess Hitman: Absolution but that's mainly because I just have not had the time to play it because of many other games that I wanted to play more.



EDIT: X-Blades could count but I did not actually buy it.

Pssf, noticed this was PS3-specific regrets. Unlimited Saga was PS2. I haven't regretted getting anything on PS3. I pretty much played it safe and stuck to major games years after their release.
 
Haven't picked up anything I just went "Ohhh...why did I get this game. This is gonna be ass," with PS3. Now those PS1 and PS2 days when I just looked at the cover and the pictures on the back and went "YEAH! GAMES! YEAH!" On the ride home there was plenty of "Ohhh...oh no..."

For PS1 it a Bubsy 3D.

Yeah Fallout 3 fell short of my expectations when i brought it.
 
I've heard that from a few people that they couldn't get into Fallout 3 initially. I thought it was odd myself since it's very well paced from the start and it while it does have that "You're the Chosen One" vibe of JRPGs it didn't have the linear nature of most. The open world, flexible nature of the game was what my brother didn't care for in the game and just couldn't get into.
 
Ridge Racer was the one I instantly regretted. I've never played Ridge Racer prior to Ridge Racer 6 and thought that the game was going to be like any other arcade racers but I was wrong. The cars weren't driving on the road, they were "skating" on it. I couldn't get used to it after a couple of hours of playing and sold it off to a friend.

I played Fallout 3 for about 45 minutes before turning the game off. Played New Vegas, got into it straight away. So I then went back to Fallout 3. The keypart for me in these games is getting past the first 2 hours. Then once you're left to your own devices in the wasteland that's when the game opens up.
 
That first hour and a half in Fallout 3 was a crawl for me. I was so happy when I got close to getting out to the Wasteland that I made sure I made a "base save" in case I wanted to start over and didn't want to go through all of that. Same with Elder Scrolls IV.

Oh god, I hated the start of Oblivion. I was so glad when I was free in Imperial City. I started to love the game after that.

I think that's the trick with RPG's, ignore the first 1-2 hours
 
There actually haven't been a lot of games I regretted buying, but the only one that sticks out to me in this case is Lollipop Chainsaw. I didn't expect it to be amazing in the first place, but I played a bit of when I got it and haven't touched it since.
 
I haven't regretted buying a game since my Play Station 2 days, where I bought a big pile of 'suckage' called Yu Gi Oh! Battle of the Roses, since then I do thorough research before making any purchase. I watch both the official game trailer release, and the videos of actual game play, as well as reading two or three reviews, in doing this I've never regretted a purchase because I already know what to expect before hand.
