Who would be the best mascot for the PS4?

The PS1 had Crash Bandicoot. The PS2 had Jak and Daxter/Kratos but I think Jak and Daxter were the best for the PS2. The PS3 had Nathan Drake/Sack Boy/Kratos but I think that Sack Boy best described what the PS3 was. Who do you think would be the best mascot for the PS4? Will Sackboy return? Will the cute little robots in the Play Room do?

I don't see them really changing the mascots for this cycle. I can't think of anyone character being a cult of personality at this point. It'll probably stay at Nathan Drake, though I have to say that Ellie/Joel had a good chance if The Last of Us hadn't been a PS3 release.

I would probably say the Bots from The Playroom. There are avatars for them already if you go to your "Avatars" section. (I currently have the Ninja-bot as my avatar ;))

Not really sure. Uncharted wasn't really released until a year after the PS3's release so we should probably give it some time. If I had to pick from the games that came out, I'd go with Delsin from Infamous. A lot of folks bought that game and it was a pretty solid title. Outside of that, there hasn't been a lot yet. Maybe the characters from the Order 1886 if that's any good.

I agree with Kevin Butler as spokesman for PS4. There could even be a whole thing with him getting his job back and the running gag of "Unimpressed Yoshida".

As far as an actual mascot, I'd go with the robots. Sack Boy would be an awesome mascot for PS Vita. The thing with mascots is that they should have mass appeal and not just appeal to one demographic. Drake and Kratos appeal more to the "hardcore gamer" demographic than everyone while Jak and Daxter could appeal to everyone and have games made that appealed to casuals, hardcore gamers, adults, children, new gamers, and old school ones. Kratos could only have violent, edgy, bleak games. You couldn't even fit him into a children's cartoon if Sony wanted to try it.

Now Nathan Drake could be fit into a setting to appeal to pre-teens via an animated series to promote the PS4. Sony characters like Crash, Tomba, Sack Boy, and the PS4 ninjas all have that Sonic, Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby-range of appeal though.

I think the PS4 robots (I call them ninjas too for some reason) would be the best mascots. It would be easier to run commercials promoting the PS4 using them than it would be to use Nathan Drake or Kratos and not have it come off as an ad for their next games.

sonys mascot

if i were to make a mascot nowadays it would be nathan drake with a kratos sword while nathan is dressed up in a sackboy costume with delsins picture on the costume. the sackboys costume could be zipped down a little to see nathans face.

somebody needs to make that with photoshop or something

I guess the robots seem the most fitting, but they are kind of... lame. Kind of... generic, not iconic at all. Nathan and Kratos and their kind aren't good fits. I don't think a realistic person is a good fit for a mascot. None of the cartoony characters really represent the PS4 yet either. I mean, Sackboy is good and all but he's been around for longer than the PS4, and he's been in 3 platforms now.

So really, I don't think there's a good mascot for the PS4 yet.

I see what you mean by the bots being too generic, but couldn't that have been said about Sackboy when he came out?
There hasn't been any new character that shines through so far to reach mascot-status, we have to wait for more games to come out I guess :)

Sackboy was something new. We didn't really have anything like Sackboy before then. That, and it's not like he's that iconic now.

Sackboy is fairly unique... though I would agree he's not mascot-worthy either. I think the thing is that they haven't even tried to create a mascot at all.

Maybe they've decided that it really isn't worth it. They need lasting power for a mascot, not just a cheap one gen thing

What's the big advantage of having a mascot anyways?
I could see it many years ago when gaming was considered a "kiddy" activity, mascots would call kids towards a certain console or game, but nowadays we are so much more informed about every game anyway that I think it would be pointless.
