Wifes attitude towards our love of gaming

Just wondering how everyone's wife acts towards it. It is somewhat expensive. Does she bitch or sit and play with you. Mine doesn't bitch to much but doesn't play although I wish she did.

Don't have a wife but my girlfriend has been more understanding since we started dating. At first she didn't like it. She doesn't like sitting there for a lot of "mindless" games (COD, shooters, etc) but I got her really into Beyond Two Souls. She didn't want me to stop playing, lol. She has been getting into Mass Effect. She doesn't mind watching me play as long as there's a story. Though getting her to play has been a challenge. She enjoyed Little Big Planet and I tried to get her into Red Faction: Guerilla to "blow s*** up" but hated it.

Yeah I kinda think games are going more towards games that pull emotions out of the player. Not that they haven't before but with the technology now they can pull it off much better, allowing gamers, or wives sitting there, to get into the game more.

I don't have a wife, but I was fortunate enough to have been with a few girls who grew up with gaming, so naturally they didn't mind. In fact, there were many times where we would just stay in and play together. It isn't too hard to find people like this, they just had to have grown up under the circumstances, I would say. Marrying someone who is just as serious about gaming would probably be a dream come true for most.

My girlfriend doesn't mind. She plays a few games herself and I always try and find something we can play together from time to time. She knows I'm responsible with what I spend on these sort of things though.

My wife plays too,she prefers the Lego games but occassionally even jumps on for split/dual screening on CoD Ghosts.

That is very true. Mine didn't grow up with it. Last game she played was on Genesis. I'm not gonna lie, I've been trying to ease her into it but she keeps saying she'll suck. I'm easing her into it through games like Little Big Planet and Castle Crashers :)

Don't worry, when I get married I'll do the obligatory bitching at my husband to get him off the games, but it will be so I can play them. :p

I dunno, maybe your lady friends would be more open to games if some of their female friends played with them, just so it doesn't seem as boyish?

I am the wife. Met my hubby when I went to Gamestop looking for Elder Scrolls Oblivion used for the 360. He was the store manager. Yeah, no bitching coming from me-We typically have two of each system so we can play multiplayer together! I have some guy friends that don't understand why I like video games though. Doesn't bother me. I'm a gamer. If you don't like it, then you can leave me alone while I play and go do something else! :)

Wish my wife was this way. Christmas and birthdays would be so much easier too.

I have a wife that I have been married to f=r 20 + years. I spend more money than average on the games systems than average; My wife has never once complained about my love for gaming. However, she understands that gaming is an outlet and I work a lot of hours and have always been a good provider. She has never once said anything to me about games purchases. It would be a different story if I didn't work and stayed home all day and played games instead of providing for my family/

If any serious gamer has a girlfriend that does not understand your love of games and tries to stop you buying and/or playing video games then you should probably should not marry that person IMHO.

My girlfriend loves gaming! She's got all the Playstations under her TV (minus PS4) and a gaming PC. She's moved away from the consoles, but we did used to play COD every night for many months when Black Ops was out.

I've never had a problem with my girlfriend about my gaming. I don't chase skirts, I don't let my hobbies put me in situations where she'll have to bail me out, and I tolerate her friends and other stuff. All I ask is to play games with no interruptions that aren't potential death, house fire, attempted break in, grave news, or car trouble.

I think the only time that rule was violated was something about a friend that my girlfriend says is a "mutual" friend...but I'm not a fan of this "mutual" friend at all. Went over, solved the problem, was about to leave and she offers something I dislike...it was like giving someone a handful of Hall's and used snot tissue for saving your kid from a burning house.

Anyway, my girlfriend tolerates my gaming and I tolerate her fandoms. Don't cross the streams.

This is just about essential.

My girlfriend sticks to stuff like the Sims, Sim City, and games where the protagonist isn't about to spill out of their shirt.

...it's also 1/3 of the reason she won't read comics.

I don't know age of everyone on here and how long they have been with their girlfriends but I can promise their is a big difference with your girlfriend liking gaming as opposed to being married for many years with children

My wife doesn't play as much as I'd like but she doesn't bitch about me buying games. We usually preorder games we want and just pay them off little by little.

She occasionally likes to play the typical games girls will play (just dance, wii sports, puzzle/gameboard type games), but for the most part she's fine when I sit down for a couple hours to play away. We're out and about most of the time these days, but when we do have some down time I will fire up the PS4, and she has no problem crocheting or reading while.
