Will I be able to play PS1 games on PS4?

I have a few Playstation 1 games that I want to be able to play them on any of the Playstation because those are my favorite games, plus I don't seem to find any games that are better than those games. They are just the classic games right there, and I want to know if the Playstation 4 can be able to play Playstation 1 games because I personally like older games. Is there any way I can play PS1 games or do I have to wait for the next update of PS4 to play the PS1 games? If anyone knows the answer, please let me know.

No, but they may make some games available for download in the Playstation store. Playstation Now looks like the new way for distributing content from older consoles on the PS4. The unfortunate part is that you'll have to buy the games again.

Or get a PS3,they can play PS1 game discs.
At least my 80GB Phat model can.

edit: Ah,I see you have a PS3 so no probs there.
But as for PS1 discs on PS4,as above replies.

Honestly though,I doubt you will ever be able to put your PS1 game discs in PS4 and play them that way..but I could be wrong.

I thought the PS4 Blu Ray drive doesn't support CDs or I'm mistaken? If it really doesn't play CDs then I doubt playing a PS1 disc will be possible no matter what update they put out. Maybe they'll do something similar like the Classics on the PS3 via software emulation like what is rumored already. Or there is Playstation Now.

We don't know for sure yet if we'll have to buy each game through Playstation Now. Some people are saying that it might be a monthly subscription where we'd pay a monthly fee and be able to stream a large selection of games similar to Netflix. It's too early to know for sure what Playstation Now will bring, but that's probably going to be the only way to play original Playstation games on the PS4.

I heard that Playstation Now was announced as a type of rental service. I have no idea as to how it will work but my guess is we pay an amount of fee to play the game for a set period of time before the right to play is revoked. Right now, information have been scarce so anything is purely speculation.

No, you definitely can't, which is a shame. I play most of my old PS1 favorites on my PSP Go, which I know has meant I had to buy them again but I normally buy them when there are discounts available. That way I can play them on a portable system. They are bringing out more and more PS1 games out for download to the PSP so that might be something to consider.

Depends on your PS3. My PS3 Slim can't. Early Fat models can.

There's a rumor going around about PS1 and PS2 emulation coming to the PS4 along side PS Now. I would some the emulation would be digital though and not allow physical disc since I doubt the hardware would support it.

Yeah,agree.
The only way we could play PS1 or PS2 on PS4 would be either downloaded via classics on PSN store,or Playstation now streaming.
But my point to the OP is we would never see an option to play PS1 discs on PS4.
