Will PS1 CDs Become As Collectible As Nintendo/Sega Cartridges?

I don't think CDs vs. cartridges really mean diddly for collectability. What makes a game collectable isn't what its on, its why its collectable. It come to supply and demand and sometimes even if its something different (Bible Adventures and Custards Last Stand, the porn NES game, are highly prized because they were unlicensed and not many were made). If people want a certain original game and they didn't make many of it, it can become collectable and gets a higher price. Back in the days of NES, some games didn't get made in such a supply as they are now. A game like Battlefield or even The Last of Us won't most likely be collectable because of the fact millions are made. Maybe 50 years down the road when most copies are then lost, they might increase in value like a lot of NES games today.

Dame6089 I think had it right. A lot of gamers are still in their 20s and early 30s. The nostalgia is just starting to set in on getting the games they got as a kid. Hell, I still find myself with a list of old games I liked but never owned personally and I'm willing to hunt them down, even if they aren't 99 cents or anything like that. I would gladly spend up to their original value or more to have them.

Copying doesn't make it less collectable either. You can download any NES game on the internet, even the ones that fetch high prices for the cartridges. To use another example, I was watching Pawn Stars (I can't believe I watch it sometimes) the other day while I was eating. They had a spoon made by Paul Revere. Many copies were made but it didn't impact the value of the spoon. In fact it still fetched something like 40 grand retail even though there are thousands of copies of that spoon. Same example works for coins too. A lot of fakes but doesn't impact the value of the real thing.

Nintendo games like Mario 64 and Zelda 64 are too much money, a lot of Nintendo stuff is. Do I think PS games will get up there in price? Only time will tell
