Will you buy the PS4 the first day?

I stand on iffy grounds when it comes to considering purchasing something on the very first day of release. On the one hand, it really sounds like they only had the blueprints finalized when they swept the reveal, not that it is any different for its currently sweating competitor, and if they are only in the process of assembly as this post is written, then you can bet there will be kinks they will not have time to test, let alone fix. On the other hand, preordering means that I do not have to worry about it being out of stock once any bugs, recalls, etc. have been ironed out when I finally decide to purchase the system. That is not really as much of a problem as the multitude of bugs and glitches that are bound to pop up with it. I do not know how rigorous or lazy their testing procedures are, but practically every system I have bought on release besides the Nintendo DS had some kind of fault with it that I had to get repaired, so I will play it safe this time and wait one month after launch.

i'm 99% sure there will be bugs of some kind. Actually, 99.99% sure. Every brand new console does, i'll run the risk though - there's a 0.01% chance mine will be fine ;)

Even if i had the money, rule of thumb is "Never buy a console on release". Yes, it's all the hype and stuff, but seriously:

1. There will always exist faulty hardware for the first run of the console
2. Almost to no games
3. No games that use the full potential of the console because, well, the console is new, not even the the console's company will know how to use it 100% at the beginning.
4. Problems with accounts, customer support, etc

Wait 1 year minimum, 2 years recommended. You won't regret it.

For me personally, I don't find it that expensive so it's no huge loss for me if I need to fix at a late date.

I rather not wait a long ass time to get a console that I might not even play on the first day. I rather wait my chances so there would be less people to worry about.

I'm still unsure about what to do, I've been down the first day route and waited until prices have dropped in the past and as a previous post said there's not much difference to me. The console will be new to me whenever I get it not when its released! Having said that I've never actually owned an Xbox, I've been a PlayStation man for life!

That doesn't mean I'd buy the PS4 over the One out of loyalty, if I haven't decided in the build up I'll wait for a review from friends to make up my mind or a sneaky play ;-)

I just think Microsoft have treated their customers so badly that that its soured my 50-50 view to skew towards Sony again. Getting back to the point, I think I will wait and buy a few weeks after launch to see if there's any unexpected problems with either console.

I don't plan on getting one the first day, or even the first month. I'm just not too eager to play it, however it would be fun to sample it, I admit. I only like consoles for the games they have and not much else including the home theater aspect of the recent ones, so I'd prefer to wait and see if or until there are more games I'd really be into.

Nope, I definitely won't. Money issues aside, I don't think I'll enjoy a PS4 on its first day of release. I'll be excited but I still don't know which game to play and if I do, I don't know if I will actually like it. I'm going to wait until everyone finds out the bugs and how long it actually lasts. Maybe I'll wait for a year before actually purchasing one.

I'd love to buy it on the first day. But nope, I won't. I hate long lines. And as I said in another thread, I would also like to see if the console does not have any initial defects. I want to see the reaction of users first before I buy.

Well, I'm buying it on the first day. I`ve allready placed my order. It`s just that we know for a while now that the ps4 is coming, and my patience is running out.... ;) I guess i'm a little bit spoiled, and when I wan't someting, than I`m buying it. There might be some issues on the first batch of ps4's, but we`re only going to find that out when people buy the ps4.

So, I`ll be your guinny pig :p

Get ready. A lot of us here are going to come after you with PS4 questions :D

My husband and I already pre-ordered our PS4 from Best Buy. Our plan is to save up $25 every week and use it to go towards the cost of the PS4, that way we aren't just taking the whole chunk of cash out of our bank at once, but rather putting it aside in an envelope so we won't be tempted to spend it on other things in the mean time. This fund will also be going towards any games/hardware that we may want come release date. I do worry about the game selection however. I know that he has his eyes set on a few different games, I however am a bit more skeptical when it comes to some of the games to be released. But that's not a surprise, most launch games for a console are never really that appealing save for one, maybe two titles. And I am confident other companies will start releasing games soon after launch that will be much more appealing to the overall population of gamers.

Though I will admit, if it were entirely up to me I probably would have waited on buying the system until closer to 6 months after launch (maybe 3 if it is really successful). I think for some people waiting just isn't an option as far as they are concerned, but for me I do tend to prefer waiting on reviews and such to make a final decision about a purchase.

Ive been putting away cash whenever I can do,plus getting a tax refund now also help ofourse :o

Its easy to forget its not just the cost of console either, dont forget you need at least one game, and you also need to buy Playstation Plus. Well you dont need to buy PS+ but Im sure most people will anyway.
So for us here in AUS that brings the price up to around AUD $700 or a little more depending on how much you pay for a game.

I am very doubtful that I will purchase the Playstation 4 on its release date. The Playstation 4 is too expensive for me to actually wait in a line. Considering the fact that I don't have it pre-ordered, I doubt I will be getting it on the launch date.

Probably not because I like to wait usually a year or so before upgrading. I don't believe in paying full price for a brand-new console. My husband on the other hand will probably buy it. He does this all the time and I was explained him that he shouldn't. He can still enjoy his PS3 for a while until he decides to upgrade

I was hoping I could get it Day One but I just can't afford to do it this year. And with the latest news of Watch Dogs being delayed I'm not even that mad. I will probably just get BF4 for PC and wait some months for some good promotion bundles, or if I'm lucky a raise!

I think the reason I want one on this launch on the first day is that I just moved and it took a total of a whole two months to actually get into my house and get hired at a new job, and finally I can afford it. So not only have i not been playing for like two months, (we were staying with friends until we got our own house) this new house has a whole media room that we intend to dedicate to gaming and movies, so we figured we might as well hook it up with the ps4, since we are so excited to do it, we are making this the thing we are looking forward to. I did have to pre-order through best buy, and since I had gotten used to pre-ordering games there it kind of was just a thing to go and do.
I am excited about the connectivity we will have. This and some new features are the only way I got my bf to agree to it, but now hes actually excited about it. (hes a pc gamer)

I'm not going to be getting one on launch, simply because I can't afford it right now. My brother is though and I'm gonna make sure I'm down their each weekend giving it a thrashing. He's getting BF4 on launch and maybe NFS or Marvel Lego. Depending on how epic it is I might try and get one for Xmas, if not then it will have to be January.

I hardly buy anything the first day. Most of the time, I'll wait to see the kinks worked out, see what reviewers and customers say. That, and it wouldn't hurt if the price dropped a little bit before I bought it.
