Worst PS1 game you've played

Good day, Sony people!

We cannot deny the fact that the Playstation 1 had one of THE best library of games. Quantity-wise, you can never run out of games to play. As far as I know, the console had a game for almost every genre out there. If you were looking for an RPG game, then you had Final Fantasy! If you wanted to race with your friends, then Need For Speed was available for you. One cannot say that the market was limited.

Quality-wise, which I believe is more essential, the console had great games. To name a few, some of great games I've played were Final Fantasy 4, Chrono Trigger, Digimon, and my all-time favorite, Chrono Cross. Those were the games that made my childhood happier. Despite that, the PS1 also had its share of bad games. An example of a bad game that I've played was Barbie. These were the type of games that would make me puke and over-all, ruin my day.

Now, I would like to ask you. What were the worst PS1 games that you've played?

One of the worst PlayStation games that I have ever played is Twisted Metal 3. It was such a bad game that it game me motion sickness every time I played. It had good graphics for its time but the levels were simply very bland. The controls sucked too. I kept flipping over each and every time. I also remember a game called Irritating Stick wherein you were supposed to guide a dot across a maze. It was very boring and repetitive.

I had forgotten about Chrono cross one of my favorite games ever now that I look back. As for worst I'd have to agree with lindbergh and say that Twisted metal 3 was a really...really terrible game, I probably played it for 25minutes and never picked it up again.

I think that Bubsy 3D takes the prize! What made it worse is that i kinda liked the game from the Genesis days, and then they port it to 3D and... this comes out!

Jesus Christ, don't remind me of that game haha. I love the series, but Twisted Metal 3 was just plain horrible. You already stated all the reasons on why I freaking disliked the game. I hated the fact that I had to stop playing every 10 minutes because my head started to hurt.

Oh wow does that bring back memories! I used to own Bubsy for the Sega, and thought it was awesome! I played it for the PS1 though as well some years later and yeah, didn't like it at all.

I think it was called Tonnenstein or something, can't really remember it. I think it was like a Warner Brothers cartoon game about a mansion or something? Me and my friends would always jokingly attempt to play it to see who would be the first person to show any sort of negative reaction. On those days, we didn't have much to do.

Broken Helix. At the time it was supposed to be revolutionary for allowing you to finish the game a total of 4 different ways. But I absolutely hated it, another series I hated were the Army Men games, good idea for a game but wasn't fun at all. I think I hated the DDR games the most, but that wasn't due to the game, that was due to me having the cheap floor mat that slid everywhere when you tried to step on it.

I agree Bubsy 3D is the worst game I ever played on the PS1 up to this day.

Twisted Metal Three isn't so bad like you said it is. I know it's not receiving any credits it deserves, but it's a good quality game, if you like playing all the series. I had a blast playing Twisted Metal Three more than I did with one and two. I find the whole series is awesome. There is not bad Twisted Metal game so far! I recommend this game to anyone to play!

The only thing that I loved about Twisted Metal 3 were the characters and their story lines. However, I think that part 3 was the weakest in the series. Part 1 and part 2 were more imaginative. I think that TM3 developers were not really ready to release the game. I think they rushed it because of the new car combat game V8 back then. If they did not do a panic release, I think that the game could have been great.

One that I remember very well was 'Felony 11-79'. Does anyone remember that? It was an oddball racing game that I remember being fairly impressed with from the demo disc, so I ended up buying it from that. I really wished I never bothered. It's about the only game that I can clearly recall getting sore eyes/motion sickness from after barely 20 minutes of playing. Graphically, the finished product somehow looked worse than the demo! If memory serves me the demo involved one of the tracks in night time conditions so you never really got to see much (no wonder!). It remains one of the worst purchases I've made out of all three Playstations I've had.

A game that was purchased for me by my brother was the original Battle Arena Toshinden. I'm not even remotely interested in those types of fighting games and he bought it as a bit of a laugh to try and get me into them. Nope, it didn’t work…! I did give it a try but I just found it tedious and ended up smacking just about all the buttons as I had no idea what done what… I still don't now!

You actually bought Bubsy 3D though. There was little redeemable about Bubsy on SNES.

As JonTron said, Bubsy 3D was like a PlayStation prototype game. What a bad game that was and as SpaceTiger said the ones on SNES were no prize pigs either.

I played a lot of games on PSX that I may not have liked. I don't remember the games off the top of my head today. But for what's in my collection, I may have to say Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi. When I was a kid I liked it. But as I got older, it wasn't really that good of a fighting game. Very generic, repetitive and at times frustrating. Then again, I don't like fighting games period so my opinion could be very skewed. The Phantom Menace is the second Star Wars game in my PSX collection and I have to say I didn't really like that one too much as well and may have to take the cake. Didn't really follow the story line very well and was just overall a not very good game.

I thought GTA 1 & 2 were okay with the overhead view. Never played Bubsy 3D, only heard that it was truly terrible.

I've forgotten most or all of the bad games I've played on the PS1 and I only ever remember the ones I liked, but I played Need For Speed on PS1 again recently, and now looking back, I'd definitely consider it to be below average nowadays and it's definitely lost its replay value for me.

I really didn't mind the original GTA series. It was 'different' when it was launched and I played the demo version of the original game to death before buying it. I even had the GTA London add-on disc (I probably still have it up in the attic somewhere...).

The birdseye view did take a bit of practice to get used to. You only really had decent vision when driving very quickly - but then you were more likely to crash! Slow down a touch and the camera zoomed back in!

Okay, looking back at it now it looks fairly terrible and plays very 'clunky' - granted! However that's the origins of the series and doesn't get enough respect in my humble opinion. It's a shame so many people out there today haven't experienced the original games and/or consider GTA3 to be the 'first' when I still consider it to be a 'new' one...! Younger gamers have been spoilt!
