Your Favorite Cheats Of All Time

I'm pretty sure that the most popular cheat would most likely be the Konami code for Contra on the NES, but I never really played that game much myself so I didn't get to utilize it very much. The one cheat that I used a lot was for the X-men game on my Genesis. I think I would never have been able to finish that game if I hadn't used the cheat, and I rarely finish games, so since I found a game I liked enough to want to finish it, I was determined to do the cheat and finish the game even though the code was so complicated.

I still remember most of it until today, and there were lots of steps to it including holding down some buttons and having to change the controller from the first to the second port, and then restarting the console. I think I finished that game multiple times because of this cheat, and the great thing about it was there were many characters to choose from so even if you've finished the game once with a cheat, replaying it was still very fun because you can still just use another character to see if you can make it all the way through with slightly less favorable superpowers.

Anyway, which cheats did you guys love to use? Do you still use some now? As far as I know, only GTA utilizes cheats nowadays, so please do bring up any modern games that still support cheat codes if you know any.

Not a really a cheat code but more of a secret code when the first Mortal Kombat was released in Australia on the Sega MegaDrive (Genesis) it came without blood (SNES version didnt either) but there was a secret code that activated the blood.
I even remember it,it was called the 'DULLARD' code.Dullard=DownUpLeftLeftAbuttonRightDown. Enter that at the menu and the screen would turn red and you would have the blood enabled.
No such code for the SNES version,it had flying sweat,instead of blood..lol.

Sequels however had blood intact as default.

Unlimited ammo was a code that I used in pretty much every game I could with my Gameshark for my PS2. If it didn't have the codes most likely my Action Replay did. I went through Code Veronica many times thanks to Unlimited ammo.

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins for the Playstation 1 had a cheat code that opened a debug console that let you edit some aspects of the game levels. For example, you could spawn any enemy from any level (even bosses) and fight them anywhere. You could even make everyone immortal (even your own character) to make fights last even longer. You could change camera positions, control other characters with the second command, etc. Possibilities were endless!

I always liked the infinite ammo cheats in games.

This was my favorite cheat mainly for having infinite grenades and Molotovs. More bullets is like "meh" whatever, because when an enemy dies you get more ammo off them.

Combining riot mode and armed pedestrians in San Andreas was the best thing.

Going back donkey's years, wasn't there an odd cheat on Sonic (Sonic 2?) where you could become a giant ring and basically go anywhere on the level – it was as if the game had crashed. I haven't a clue how I done this now but I seem to recall doing this several times.

One of the most memorable for me was the cheat on the first few Tomb Raiders that gave you all the weapons and unlimited ammo. I recall after completing Tomb Raider 2, I blasted through the game again more or less solely using the grenade launcher! So much fun! I recall you blew your enemies into chunks – literally!

In TOCA Touring Cars, there was a cheat where you could make the cars move much faster and more erratically (I forget the name of the cheat now…). Me and my best friend at the time used to try to the game in this mode which proven to be more or less impossible. In the end, it was more fun to simply go backwards around the track and cause as much chaos to the oncoming traffic as possible. Some of the crashes you could create were hilarious. You'd get cars bouncing 25/30ft into the air!

Didn't GTA3 have a 'hover car' cheat so you could jump/cross the bridges to a locked part of the map? I seem to recall doing this and combining it with the invincible car cheat. I done this for quite some time because I just ran out of patience with some of the missions.

Wow DULLARD brings back so many memories. I've totally forgotten about this, but now that you've reminded me, I remember reptile being unlockable through codes as well. Also, MK2 had even more secrets and I liked those a lot more - particularly, the one wherein you have to do something when there was the guy coming into the screen screaming "smoking!" or something like that. I'll have to look it up again. Thanks for reminding me!

GTA 3 dodo cheat + tank spawn cheat was also great fun. I spent a lot of time flying around Liberty City in a tank. :d

That's it! I think I mixed it up with Jim Carrey's Mask movie, but anyway, this is definitely also one of my favorite games with cheats of all time as they really made it a lot of fun instead of just something you do to get some extra lives or something. I think MK2 is where their silliness really shined and they were really able to showcase their personalities as developers.

I did this too! I always search for tanks/vehicle cheats in GTA ever since 3. I think they have a very similar attitude as the ones who made MK in terms of being game developers which is why their cheats are always so fun.

My favorite cheat of all time has to the famous Konami code for Contra. Up up, Down down, Left right, left right, B,A. If you've played Contra before this cheat will give you 30 lives instead of the usual 3. Another great cheat code, and possible one of my favorites also, are the cheats in GTA games, I would spend hours upon hours doing nothing in GTA SA but punching in code after code and just wasting 5 hours of my life blowing people up, blowing cars up and flying... with my car!
