I Shall Finish The Game
They say you never forget your first. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at my cousins house when it happened and it was a feeling like no other. After a fight like no other, I realized I had done it. The game was Rygar and the system was the NES ;). for me seeing the credits roll was bitter sweet. Knowing that I had completed the game was a great feeling but knowing I would probably never play it again was sort of sad. I did buy the remake for the PS2 but it never quite captured the magic of the original. So what was your first game you ever completed and what system was it on?
 
I believe it would of been GoldenEye on the Nintendo 64. Great game then, but has aged badly.
 
My first completed game was Donkey Kong Country on SNES. Truly amazing game, but it was like the worst game to have as your first completion. I really I was sitting there with my brother and some other kid who always played as the sidekick (Diddy was so much cooler) and enjoying the hell out of the music then we beat King K. Rool. High fives all around, chugged a little Dr. Rootbeer while looking at the short credits, then we got "The End?"

Had to really buckle down because the jumps got shorter and lower, but we beat him on the first go. I remember the first fight being harder and we did that several times.
 
Myself and a friend beat 1942 in the Arcade -I believe all it said was Congratulation lol but it did give us a false sense of accomplishment ;)
 
The first game I've ever beaten myself is Street Fighter 2 on the SNES. M. Bison and Sagat were really cheap!

I never beat 1942. I remember Showbiz had it, the Star Wars arcade game (where you sit inside and shoot lasers), and Pole Position. When Showbiz became Chuck E. Cheese's they added Super Mario Bros./Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr./Pac-Man, ditched Pole Position (booooooo), added TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (yaaaaaaaay), ditched Star Wars, added a new racer, and kept 1942. My dad always played that and Donkey Kong when we went.

I've taken credit for beating Sonic 2 and Super Mario Bros. before I actually beat it. It was my consoles and my dad would leave the Genesis on non-stop to beat Sonic 2 since it didn't have a save feature. When Sonic 3 came out and I explained that he could save his game he actually said "Well would you look at that sh**. You can save your game. Sure can."

...didn't stop him from playing Sonic 3 and Super Mario World non-stop.
 
My first game I completed was Sonic the Hedgehog on the Master System. I thought it was a cheap ending, you just accidentally fall on Dr Robotnik and that was it! Collect the final emerald, and then watch the final credits with what I remember Sonic singing into a microphone.

Then that's when it hit me. END.

That was that, I'm pretty sure I just restarted the whole game rather than turn the console off :o
 
My first game beaten was Sonic 2. It came with the Genesis in one of those packs during the holiday season. I just restarted the game once I beat it as well. Those were the days when you usually got one game with your system until either tax or Christmas time and the rest of the year was generally rentals.

It's amazing that you actually beat that. Alex Kidd wasn't the most durable of heroes and didn't have the best skills.
 
It took a while,at first I couldnt figure out how to control the helicopter even,until my brother who isnt a gamer at all picked up the controller and messed around for a bit then told me to 'tap,tap,tap' etc to keep flying (like Flappy Bird)...I was just holding the button down to try fly..lol
And once you beat a boss in a game of janken,its was always the same when you have to restart..lol.
 
Alex Kidd could've been a great hero later on and could've had great games had Sega just said "Let's work on Alex Kidd more now that there's a lot more we can do with gaming." I'd love for Alex Kidd to return. He should've returned with Dreamcast in a full on game and I'm sure the series would've kept going from there since there are gamers out there who want just old school, 80s and 90s hard platforming and beat 'em ups.

As for my first: BioMetal.
 
The first game I beat was Street Fighter Alpha with Ryu. Since it was a fighter I wouldn't say it counts entirely as "beating a game". I mean it took me several times to beat it, but it's not like sitting up in the wee hours of the morning, spending an entire weekend, or having had the game for months. I beat it with Ryu in like 4 hour, once on default difficult and again on a harder one.
 
The first game that I can actually remember beating is Sim City on the SNes, well, I got to a megaopolis or whatever the highest city rating was. I know that I beat the Mario games when I was younger, and Zelda I would guess, but I totally can't actually remember doing that.
 
I was going to ask if Sim City was actually beatable. My first game beaten was Double Dragon on NES with my sister. The first I beat on my own was Super Mario Bros. 2.
 
The Sim City/Sims games have never been beatable...well on PC. You basically set your own end goal. On consoles, there was typically an end goal for The Sims.
 
I actually enjoyed Sims 3 on 360 and Wii. Modding would've been nice, but that's not a console thing really.
 
I remembered when I first finished playing Mortal Kombat for the SNES. It was one of the toughest and most frustrating fights I've ever had in my entire life and I have done it, I've defeated that bastard Shao Kahn!
