Your Preferred Price for a PS4

If we are talking a preferred price, free would come to mind. However I feel that $300 would be ideal for my budget.

Yeah, I mean, if we're talking about what we want the console to cost, free would be pretty nice. Somewhere around 300 would be cool. Honestly, as cheap as they'd be willing to go is my preferred price point.

Well, the cheaper the better. I personally want a price of ~$300. For me, that's not too little or too much. It's well in my price range.

It's already at a really good price as it is, but I don't know when I'll have the money for it. Hint: It definitely won't be by November.

I will just wait and see how it rolls out, because i still don't see any must-play titles on it for the release, so i will be waiting for the Slim version with a 500gb HDD, maybe for around $250-$300, it depends on what games it gets until then.

Yep, I feel the same way. The last time I bought a console was when the Wii had dropped to $300. I don't see that happening for a marquee-gaming console like the PS4, at least not any time soon. My preferred price is "cheap", and right now, it's cheaper than its direct competition. Then again I might just have to get a WiiU for Smash Bros, but that won't be a for a long time.

As with anything my preferred price is free, but all things considered I don't see the PS4 as being overpriced especially in comparison to either the Xbone or the PS3 at launch. I mean this is still a month's rent, but at least it's not a month's rent plus the gas bill.

It's at a good price where it is I think. I still don't have any money to buy it, but I think the price is reasonable for the specs of it.

$300 would seem to be a nice price tag. However, considering how greedy some people can become, I would probably say that the price would probably be around $500 to $600 range. Hopeful. :)

I feel the base price for it, with a downgraded HDD version should start out at about $300 or $350 flat. I think this would actually do more good than harm, maybe increase the fan base of PS4 and maybe even edge out the people looking for opting for an xbox one.

Is anyone on board with a very cheap system for like $49 or $99 and paying a lot for the games? Like $59-$79 for the games? I think would be an interesting business strategy. I'm sort of surprised that no company has tried something like that yet.

As many have said, the price isn't bad at all right now considering all of the features we'll have at our fingertips. On the surface it sounds like a lot, but we're going to get more than our money worth in terms of entertainment in the long run and that's what it's all about. When I think about buying systems, the price always feels like a punch in the face until I stop and think about it for a second. You're getting so much more than just a simple gaming system, so the price is well worth it. When you compare what you'd pay for each of these features separately, it's actually a great deal in the end

Assuming my husband works over time in both days then it would be about 350 dollars. Not more than that for sure.

Ouya - failure. You can only make the system so cheap, before it's worthless to present it. I mean the reason the games are (generally) 60 bucks is because they are long, and data intensive - the kind of system that could be 50-100 dollars is incapable of playing said games worth a damn.

I haven't followed ouya that closely. How much are the games? I understand that the console was a failure in all respects so you can't just pin it on the sale price. I know it was a kickstarter funded project. I remember seeing a funny youtube video from an ouya consumer who detailed his disappointment with everything involved with the ouya console. It had me cracking up.

While there are/were many things wrong with the Ouya, my point is that it is a very cheap console. Unfortunately, there are some things where the adage "you get what you pay for" is entirely true. When you want to play a game with realistic imagery, good AI, and little lag then you have to be willing to put out for the kind of device that can honestly play such a thing. Sadly that generally isn't going to come cheaply - but then again the kind of tech you're looking for is effectively a computer. Cheap computers are generally 250- 400 dollars to get and that's effectively where the pricing for the current consoles is at. When you try to go less than that you tend to end up with something like the Ouya.

Ouya is pointless too. I checked their games and you can most of them on android. Unless you want to develop your own games then it's not worth buying.

But the PS4 is reasonably priced. It's still a premium product so you can't price it too low.

400€ is the perfect price, I payed more for the PS3, and even a bit more for the PS2, so it's definitely the right price for the PS4, that might be one of the reasons why all the retailers are pointing towards solding out all consoles on the launch day..
