Convince Me to Switch sides............

Help me decide..... I am getting ready to pre-order a console, and not sure what to do. I have been a fan of Xbox 360 from day 1 and have no regrets on buying it (all 6 times, thank you RROD). So it would seem that the obvious thing is to get the Xbox 1, but this new system has me very concerned....

First off the "always online" I know its hard to believe but I live in a area where there is no high speed option (other then over priced satellite that cant be used for gaming). Now they claim they removed that, but my lack of trust in M$ makes me think they will quickly bring it back after the system is out. This is also true with the DRM BS and trying to limit what I can and cant do with a game I bought.

The second thing is kinect I really don't like that it is always on, and always watching. Now I am not some paranoid freak who thinks I would even be worth anyone's time to watch. However they do have a history of giving information we thought to be private to the government. So as everyone knows, once your proven to be a liar or cheater its hard to regain peoples trust.... I should also point out that I have no real interest in motion gaming, and have had a 350 from day 1 and to this day I have never bought or even tried a kinect. So forcing me to buy something I have no interest in just seems like a bad idea.

So, Please help me decide.... Do I give M$ another chance, or switch sides and become a PS4 fanboy??? (I also pretty much gave up on windows, and use linux most the time.....)

As of right now, I am leaning towards ps4

Thank You,
PureEvil

Please don't just feed me a bunch of BS on how bad M$ is, I want real replies from educated people. Go troll on some xbox forum if that is your goal...

Well, I don't think Microsoft would reinstate the always online thing. The backlash would be too great, and besides, it would detract from their actual major push (the Kinect). Microsoft wants Kinect to succeed really bad, so they won't do anything to jeopardize that.

Well, a lot of third party games are multiplatform, so it really comes down to if you feel the extra 100 dollars is worth Xbox exclusives. What games do you enjoy playing? I've always found that Sony has more exclusive games/ more unique games so the choice has been obvious to me.

Well thank you for the reply,

my range of games is huge, everything from Gears of War and fable to Magic, MineCraft, and UNO lol. I also have no xp on the PSN network. Is it anything like XboxLive, with the ability to buy games and download them right on the spot Along with all there DLC's?

Also, I would never put anything pasts M$'s greed and/or conceitedness when it comes to thinking they know whats best for us.

I really am trying to make a educated decision on this one, but while I hate M$ its hard to make a jump to the unknown, for the lack of a better term......

Guess I will go play MineCraft on the PC and think about it =)

Thank You,

I think i don't need to read more points after the knowing that you bought the same console 6 times because of hardware failure. What do you think you should get at this point? Are you really going back to Xbox brand after spending that much money?

PS4 appears to be the front-runner, though it's impossible to say for sure until it and the XB1 come out. My issues with the XB1 lie in the hardware. I was fortunate enough to only have the RROD once in my time with the 360 (I certainly would not have the patience to replace it five more times), but that one moment really soured me towards Microsoft's gaming services.

Sony appears to be taking games into a more artistic and cinematic dominion. When I see games like The Last of Us, Heavy Rain, and Beyond: Two Souls emphasizing emotional depth to that scale, I find I'm gravitating towards Sony.

It pretty much sums up what I wanted to say. Do you still wanna spend your money on Microsoft's consoles? You'll be greeted with online games only. They have turned some of their amazing games like Fable and Killer Instinct to a cash cow.

If you constantly had to replace consoles and have no trust in the company then why are you even contemplating buying another one of their products

Why don't I just send Kratos to your door and let him try to convince you to make the switch? I think he would do a pretty nice job at convincing you to purchase a PS4. :D

Get a PS4, better hardware, better exclusive games, better policies and huge indie support. In my view the PS3 library is greatly superior to the 360 so obviously devs I like develop for Sony.

On top of all this, its cheaper.

No lies,no hidden paywalls, more powerful, cheaper,no need to buy batteries for the controller, current wireless PS3 headsets work on PS4 (not sure on wired but I would imagine they would too),with Xbone, 360 ones wont, except with a possible adapter.Better controller (this may be open to debate and preferences but Ive read many people that played PS4 and Xbone and were 360 gamers and they actually prefered the PS4 controller over the Xbone's.
And a company that looks after the gamer.

After all this talk, I hope that you join our league. We are the better side :)

Are you still on the fence? Need more convincing?

We can't convince you anymore.

1) introduce yourself in the appropriate forum so we get to know you 2) go with your heart, don't buy a console you're already doubting will please you 3) none of us can convince you, the fact you've already joined a ps4 forum leads me to believe your mind is already made up.

The 360 presented a better gaming experience to the hardcore crowd during its first few years in the market against the PS3. Since then you'll find that the PS 3 and 360 swapped punches with one another back and forth through out the years. The Move versus Kinect. FPS vs FPS. The Orange Box leading to Valve developing for both consoles then leading to Valve developing only for the PS 3 at one point. You'll find as time went on the PS 3 became more relevant and answered a lot of the Hard Core gaming communities concerns. The Last of Us is one of those games that I'm referring to where you have this entire game that could just be another zombie fiction but Naughty Dog was able to take it from something like that to a Game of the Year contender.

The PS 4 is not forgetting the lessons that was learned while the PS 3 was boxed around and got back into the fight. The Xbox One is trying to open its arms to a wider market and while doing so the way they state things and the way they do things segregates the Hardcore community that would first adopt the One. I get it coming from the perspective of having businesses, knowing marketing and trying to get your product from A to B. Think about it. The One says "We're always online." ...They are always wanting to sell none gamers subscriptions to TV services and Netflix as well. So, by saying they are always online to an average consumer I think "You know what my TV will be able to be played through that and unlike satellite, they are always online so that's good."

However, get tech savy hardcore gamers who are watching everything and say "We're always online." and it opens a huge can of worms in the privacy sector.

Things would go different for the One if they would speak differently and act differently but they aren't catering to your needs as a gamer right now they are trying to expand themselves into market places that will lead them outside of gaming. Don't get me wrong, there will always be an Xbox division of Microsoft. However, I woudln't be surprised if the marketing budget for Xbox is being pushed towards content that the One can get its hands on versus Content that you want to play and find engaging.

The PS 4 is becoming a safe bet where you'll find the same experiences that the Xbox has, if not more. The Xbox is much more difficult to develop on so I'm expecting that the PS 4 is going to see an amazing indie community this go around as well.

Feel free to do what you want, but the PS 4 is going to be out of the gate harder, faster and stronger than the One this console generation. If its like the PS 2 you won't need a One this gen to get the same games outside of Halo-esque games which port to PC. Just my thoughts on all that.

Sorry it takes me so long to reply guys, I work in the oil fields in North Dakota so its common for me to work 12+ hours a day.

On that note, the reason its hard to make the change is that my xbox is the center of my entertainment.... I have no cable and only use netflix (which I know works on ps as well) so its just one of those things where Iam use to it.

I'am seriously thinking about making the jump to PS4, and at this point I think xbox would have to do something amazing to get me to come back....

I was just looking up some of my favorite games and this is kinda scaring me now...... Fable - not on PlayStation Gears Of War - not on playstation. Mind you, this isnt enough to scare me away completely... but not having fable is kinda disappointing, I have played it sense the first one and I love them. Oh well, its on pc too...

Thanks for the replies everyone, it really is helping me sway to the dark side.

p.s.
Also they should bring back the Kevin Butler Ads they use to crack me up.

Why get rid of the 360 in the first place? The 360 can still stream content if that's what you want to use it. I'm not going to get rid of mine, I use my PS upstairs and my Xbox downstairs and that won't change with the introduction of a PS 4. I might have to get a different set of cables so everyone gets some HDMI love or a splitter or something, but if you've invested a lot into your 360 keep it going and just add the PS 4 on top. A lot of people do that.

You've probably already made your choice, but I'm going to weigh-in anyway.

I have an Xbox 360 and I have a PS3. I do not have an Xbox, but I do have a PS2. I'm also a complete and utter Nintendo fanboy with the WiiU to prove it. So why buy from Sony versus Microsoft? This generation Sony has the cheaper console, they are not charging you for a device no one really wants, and they are continuing tried and true policies from the PS3. On the other hand Microsoft is going through some serious changes - they have had multiple changeovers in term of leadership, they have switched some of their policies more than three times in a fewer than two months. That said over all the reason I would suggest the PS4 is that not only will you get most of the games you'll find on the Xbone, but you're also see many exclusives you won't see elsewhere - also PSN is cheaper with much less BS. Good luck kid.
Happy Gaming.

If you particularly love those series, you might want to stick with Microsoft as you can be certain those will be console exclusive for Microsoft. In my view Sony's library of exclusive titles is clearly superior, but if you love Gears of War, there's not something on Sony's consoles I'd say is too similar.

They don't care about gamers. All they are here for is money.
Thats the thing, microsoft is a company and its about making money,no matter what.
Sony is a company, and its also about making money but not at the expense of the gamer
