PS4 Is 50% More Powerful Than Xbox One, Developer Confirms

Xbox gets CPU boost huh? I dont think Microsoft can do much this time round in the console wars.

Cause according to a series of tweets from Adrian Chmielarz, the former Creative Director of developer People Can Fly,he claims PS4 is 50% more powerful tham the Xbox One. Course that doesnt mean it'll have the best looking games though.

The PS4, at its cheaper price of £349 compared to the Xbox One’s £429, is the more powerful console, according to a series of tweets from Adrian Chmielarz, the former Creative Director of developer People Can Fly.

So.These are the words from a dev,not Sony themselves.And I would think dev's know what they talking about

That's a pretty advantage the PS4 has over the X1. If they can capitalize by having a title exclusive that pushes the tech to the limit and shows the PS4's superiority, Microsoft can be a some deep doo doo. I'm curious as to what other intricacies lie within both boxes.

I don't know, how much of a difference could it make in terms of enjoyment? I realize it's an edge for the companies to aspire to obtain, but I haven't really found something like processing power affect my opinion of a console.

The more power a console has the more you can push a game to the limits. This is a big advantage over the Xbox One.

Seems to me that they are going for damage control here and have accepted that there is indeed a difference in the CPU power of the two consoles.

A lot of it isn't going to matter, as multiplatform developers won't take advantage of whichever console is most powerful, rather, whichever console is least powerful. Still, it'll be interesting to see exclusives that take advantage of the console's potential, in a few years.

Mircrosoft may say that yeah..but dont forget,its not Sony that claim its 50% more powerful..but a dev. And thats a bit different.

To be honest though,its always claimed that the 360 is more powerful than the PS3 and yet the PS3 has the best looking game to date in 'The Last of Us' .
Does that mean the Xbone will have better looking games? ...nah...lol...but it does mean they wont neccesarily be any worse overall.

Well they were really expected to say that but the way they put forward their argument seems to suggest that Microsoft have been put under doubt by this news. The statements seemed to try and justify the XBox One's quality. I mean the follow up statement was,

"We have some of [the] smartest programmers in the world working on Xbox One," "I am very much looking forward to the next few months (and beyond) as the truth comes out."

The way I see it, and I may be wrong, these statements seemed like a desperate attempt to reassure the users that XBox One will not be an inferior product to the PS4. But the problem is that Microsoft's product is already fairly more expensive and I think if the PS4 had a lesser CPU then its lower cost would still have given them an out. Microsoft really have nowhere to go if the XBox One under performs in terms of power against the PS4.

This is quite the statement coming from a developer, is that power difference really enough to make a difference towards game development? I'm only going to believe this when I see some game performance results live, you can't tell the small difference between the PS3 and the X360 performance's and I'm pretty sure this will still happen in the next console gen era.

What a relief, one less percent and i would definitely buy a Xbox One. Good thing they managed to have a round number like 50% of more more power, or then it wouldn't sell that well...

Jokes aside, if it has that much power, where is the game from that developer? Too much power for their games?

Taking this at face value, I don't think it's going to do much for the Xbox vs PS debate. Being "more powerful" is subjective and I'm not exactly sure how that 50% number is arrived upon. Also, even if it were 2000% more powerful than the Xbox One, it would mean nothing if developers didn't take advantage of the extra "power" (whatever that means).

Honestly, how would we even be able to tell? Unless the developers from this point on decide to put millions more into amazing title games, we're not going to notice the efficacy of each consoles' power. Games running at 60 FPS might not even look as realistic as the 30 FPS games so what else is there? The majority of titles haven't even made use of the PS3's potential, and that largely had to do with the budget of developers. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but I'm just not sure what else the power would be good for, can someone enlighten me on what I may have overlooked?

Yeah, the words thrown by Microsoft last week were so hilarious. They were just trying to say anything to defend their console. Their logic, basically was that since both consoles have unknowns it will balance out in the end. Lolwut?

Although, I'm not sure if 50% is an overestimation or not. It's safe to assume that PS4 is indeed quite a bit more powerful than the Xbox One.

I really doubt that the PS4 is 50% more powerful than the Xbox one. It's really hard to tell how "50%" more powerful CPU is raw performance wise or like actual performance wise. It's like saying one AMD CPU is more powerful than Intel CPUs but in reality, the architecture of the Intel CPU makes their CPU much more better for gaming. I just think the Devs are just riding the PS4 circle jerk train.
