Yeah so I made a thread about this a while ago and now Sony has finally announced it!
It wont be availible directly at launch but it will come and thats the point!
Edit 1: Here is an article about it
http://www.thetechgame.com/News/sid=5346/ps4-to-support-gameplay-capture-from-hdmi.html
Edit 2: Okay so some people are confused and I will clear some things up.
At first Sony showed us the "Share" Function, wich allows player to record 15 minutes of gameplay totally free, no extra hardware or anything, its all built into the ps4 itself
It is unclear what quality it will be but atleast 720@30fps since thats what xbox one will do, but honestly I think Sony will make it a bit better just to take an advantage
So this feature will record gameplay in the background, 15 minutes, and you will be able to uplead them to various social medias and sites.. and you will also be able to live stream your gameplays
So this feature xis very good if you want to record like a Call Of Duty match, or quickscopes, nice kills and maybe a fifa 14 match online or fifa goals
BUT !
If you want to make like a montage of funny moments and comment while you play then you need an External Capture Card
What these Capture Cards do is that you basicly connect your Console ---> Capture Card ----> TV and also a USB cable to a pc
With Capture cards you can record Full HD Gameplays with Voice Commentary that is perfectly synced with the Gameplay
And on the xbox360 you could Record with HDMI Cables and that gives the best quality, but on the ps3 you could not do that since Sony put a HDMI Protection on their HDMI port, this meant that you had to Use the AV-Cables and we all know that the quality is not near as good as with HDMI so now that Sony took this protection away that means that now we have two ways to record...
1. Free with the Share Function that is built in to the system
2. With External Capture Cards that you need to buy
So sony makes it so easy now for us to decide what to choose, Thanks Sony!
