PS4 Release Date One Week Before Xbox One

I think X1 being out a week after the PS4 won't affect it in any way. As the article say, only a few desperate buyers will buy based on what comes out earlier.

And dont forget,in some countries like here in AUS where I am,the Xbone is actually out one week BEFORE the PS4.

I'm just praying for a smooth rollout. Having my console a week earlier than my Xbox buddies will secure some bragging rights, but only if there aren't many Day 1 issues.

This won't make a difference on what system you will get. If you know what console you want then you will get that console. If I wanted the PS4 and it came out one month later that the Xbox One then I will still get the PS4. It just seems as if both companies are trying to outdo each other.

I believe it one week head start will give Sony a lead of about a million consoles. Black Friday will be very important as neither Microsoft or Sony can afford to have supply shortages. That one day can amount to a couple million console sales alone.

Yes. You are probably correct. I am more of a Playstation fan than an Xbox fan but I'll buy both systems anyways. Your point about shortages is right on the money. If either company can't meet demand then they are committing the cardinal sin of business which is to leave sales on the table. If either ends up in this situation then they'll not only suffer monetary losses but will suffer in terms of their reputation in the gaming community.

There are people dying (not literally) to lay their hands on one of these consoles and it doesn't matter which one, they'll go after the first one that comes out, so yeah it does make a difference, not to mention Christmas and the holidays...

As if that would really matter if the XBOX One came out 2 weeks before the PS4, the PS4 is clearly going to be the system to have. Now knowing that the PS4 is coming out a week earlier only confirms that not only will Sony lead from the gate with this console war but it will most certainly be a rout. The XBOX One is a mess both commercially and from a technology stand point as well, the last system to be cater to developers supposedly was the N64 which had a few memorable titles but overall was always way behind what was going on with the PS1 and Sega Dreamcast. Good luck Microsoft you are going to need it.

Actually, people regularly die on days like Black Friday, usually by being trampled to death by other ravenous troglodytes who want to get their sweaty mitts on whatever it is they want. It's morbidly funny that it's called "Black" Friday in that sense.

On topic: that's bad news for Microsoft.

Hahah (sorry, you made it sound funny), I wasn't talking about Black Friday, I totally forgot about it when I mentionned Christmas and the holidays. Yes, it's going to be a huge advantage for Sony.

I think this is a good decision on their part. The earlier they release it, given that they have everything planned out and already have a plan B for any situation, it will just afford them more time to get ready for the Black Friday sales. Although, I have to admit that a week difference doesn't really seem all that much, but then again, I don't really know that much about how corporations operate, behave, and make decisions for my opinion to carry much weight. I'm just excited as a consumer overall that these consoles are finally being released after all the hype and speculation.

A plan B? I'm all ears :) When I joined this forum, I found a lot of facts including this one week before release that guarantee Sony's win, but still having a backup plan in case anything goes wrong makes me think that this competition is tougher than I thought.

The only reason this would make a difference is if your friend bought the PS4 and it had such a drastic impact on which one you like better you may go buy a PS4. Other than that, if you are an xbox fanboy you'll just wait the extra week. It won't really make a difference to them.

I don't think the one week difference will make that much of an impact. Although I think the one week earlier release date will give Playstation the upper hand. The only reason I would say that is because people who may want both systems, could purchase the Playstation and realize they don't need the Xbox One. If that does not happen I believe Playstation's one week early release date, will benefit their sales.

This is just Playstation trying to get the edge over Xbox with a pointless tactic. Unless you are truly desperate to forgo your system just to play the newest games a month early you will be in a very small minority. Not an important factor in my opinion.

I dont think itll be a big enough difference to determine the winner of this console war. If it was months then maybe, but a week or so difference isnt too long to wait for people who LIKE the XBOX but arent DIE HARD fans necessarily.
