When will Sony stop developing games for the Vita?

Well as many know the PS Vita is dying out less and less copies of the console sold each week and month and more people trading theres in to get consoles but when do you think sony will stop developing it?

Honestly, I don't think the Vita will be dying any time soon. With the rumoured PS4/PS Vita bundle and the games still being developed for the Vita, the Vita still has a lot of life in it. Of course the console is superior but that goes without saying.

Honestly, you're making this thread after the Vita got a new jolt of life at Gamescom? The Vita ain't dying anytime soon, if the PSP didn't die early then neither will the Vita. Sony needs to make more games for it, sure, but it ain't dying. Or well, Sony could at very least friggin' localize Freedom Wars because that game looks fantastic and it being JP-only would kill me (not the Vita, but yeah it would kill me).

Seriously? Handhelds have recently speaking taken longer to pick up in sales than in the past. The DS, 3DS, and PSP were also declared DOA but they are now either remembered fondly or picking up in sales. Honestly give it a couple of more years before giving a verdict like this.

Since Sony mentioned that Vita will work great with the PS4 I doubt it will die soon.
They will probably keep making Vitas for some years.

The money isn't in the console so much as it's in the licensing of the games. Sony can take a hit on console sales and cost so long as developers are still paying fees to develop games for it. Part of being a viable gaming platform is having an option for mobile gaming, and, for now, the Vita is the PS solution, so I don't see it going anywhere.

I find it that Sony is pushing a market that isn't very big. The smartphone industry has taken over much of the market share with portable games but I still think that they will continue pumping out portable gaming devices because they want to appeal to that crowd and also keep their line so one day it could become big or something.

Uh No. Sony has not stopped making the PS Vita. They won' market a product a couple of months back and then abruptly stop the production. The Vita has the potential to be a serious competitor to the 3ds. What they should to is to make more quality games for the system.

The Vita isn't going anywhere anytime soon. With the now "updated" hardware, ps vita TV, and it being touted as somewhat of a companion console to the ps4 I think Sony still has a lot of faith in it. Some pretty big name games are also on the horizon. I think the Vita is just now actually beginning to hit it's stride.

They just announced a thing called PS Vita TV. I think this just announces the exact day when the PSVita will rise in quality. And just wait for TGS, i am pretty sure that a lot of new games will be announced.

Vita has the POTENTIAL to be a competitor to 3DS in the handheld department, but I don't think they will be de-throning Nintendo ANY time soon in that department. Devs just haven't found any creative ways to use the hardware or develop any addictive, long lasting appeal time games like Nintendo has.

I think that Sony will stop the making of playstation vita as soon as it makes another gaming device similar to playstation vita.

It might just happen that Sony is not stopping its supply of playstation vita to compete with its competitors and not let them rule on the market for any of their products.

Honest answer: Not for a few more years. Sony has shown that they are unwilling to just let it die by tethering it to the PS4 and forcing developers to make it useful with PS4 games. Okay, so maybe that won't give it the boost it needs, but it will keep the portable console alive for quite some time. I honestly don't believe they'll be able to keep it up without getting more of the games that people actually want to play on the Vita, but I think it's a little too early to be foretelling the doom and gloom of the console. I give the Vita 4-5 more years tops.

Seeing as they just released a new version, it doesn't seem like they plan on discontinuing support for it anytime soon. I think it is in their best interest to keep the Vita alive and sell it alongside PS4, which I think is what they are aiming for. Personally, if they do it right, and more importantly, price it right, I'll definitely be buying both.

It makes me sad to see the ill success of the PS Vita.
It lacks games precisely because the public does not want to buy the console.
Developers do not want to invest there.

With the PS4, I hope to see her back in the esteem of everyone.
She packed full of features that can be useful. I would at least like to see in the hands of kids.

With the recent announcement of the PS VITA TV, plus the said PS4 + PSVITA Compatibility, I am very sure that the handheld console won't be biting the dust soon. I agree with what the others have said. We should give it more time to develop itself. Honestly, if Sony could solve the gaming library problem, then I'm very sure Vita would be selling like hotcakes right now.

Not any time soon. There is too much money invested to just give up on the Vita. It hasn't been out nearly long enough for them to have another handheld available to replace the Vita with.

I don't think that Sony will allow the Vita to really die. They have some thinking to do with regard to the proprietary game format and maybe even a bit of a price break, though it's really not overly priced. The issue I think is that people are tired of purchasing games over and over again for different systems. If they would create an app store (like apple) and allow people to purchase one and download to any sony device I think that they will bring interest back to the Vita and even the PS4...which I think is superior to the Xbox One, but will suffer in sales due to not having backwards compatibility and having to repurchase existing game libraries.
