Why is Call of Duty: Ghosts 720p on Xbox One and 1080p on PlayStation 4?

Not just Ghosts but other titles as well.
This is 2013,pretty poor that a next gen system cannot do it in full 1080P. Another fail for microsoft.

btw: I did comment on this here:http://ps4forum.com/32-playstation-4/1036-ps4-vs-xbox-one-3.html#post17214

It's seems that resolution is this generation's online paywall. One has it, other has not, everyone is throwing opinions at each other.
For me, what is really important is the fps count (no not the number of games of that genre). If you can do 1080p but the game craps itself below 30fps, then you better just pull a 720p and go for a constant or higher 60fps!

In Ghosts case, I think it's because Infinity Ward are awful developers that can't get anything done right. Every single version of Ghosts has some crap going on. The PC versions is FUBAR.

Yeah,I think you are defo better off with 720P 60fps rather than 1080P at 30fps but the issue here is PS4 will do Ghosts at 1080P 60fps,so I guess to get that on the Xbone they needed to have it at 720P or risk lower framerate.

Not sure its entirely IW,as Ghosts wont be the only game on Xbone that cant do 1080P.

I personally don't think that it will make a huge difference for this particular game, but what if a developer somehow makes a very system intensive game. Would the XBox be able to get as much out of it as the PS4?

I still have a strong feeling that this is a matter of incompetency on the part of IW.

The console peasants are arguing over 1080p 30FPS and 720p 60FPS and I am sitting here, on my PC, playing games at 1440p and 120 FPS.

Consoles need to step up. They are seriously holding back the gaming industry.

.

Whenever 'us' console peasants are talking about things like this its funny how 'PC gamers' with a superiority complex love to step in and always mention things like this.
No offense mate but if its that important to you why are you here? Do you hate consoles? If PC's are so much better for games then maybe you are better off sticking with that?
(No offense)

I remember when it was the other way around and Xbox 360 had ever Call of Duty in 1080p and the PS3 had them in 720p. Now it's the other way around, oh how the world has changed in the last couple of years in gaming. The next thing you know is DLC first on PS4, then everybody's going to go crazy. I guess the tables have turned right out of the gate in the console wars.

There was a rumour a couple of weeks ago that said both versions were going to be running at 720p due to 'network problems' - something about neither console having properly optimised online infrastructures, meaning that they were effectively struggling to output above 720p while playing online. It was only a rumour, and clearly if the PS4 version will be 1080p then it was wrong, but there may still be some truth to it.

That said, I think the same guy said that the PS4 originally had the same DRM plans as the X1, but they neglected to mention it after the disaster that was Microsoft's E3 presentation. It was one of those 'I have inside sources' videos, but the guy was pretty reputable - can't remember his name for the life of me sadly.

I think it's clear that the PS4 has superior specs compared to the X1.
1080p should become the standard since the much needed hardware update to the consoles should be able to pull it off without problems.

I am here because of the exclusives and because a lot of my friends play PS. Also, Consoles will ultimately define the next 10 years of gaming, and if they can't do 1080p @60FPS on games like COD, I can only imagine how limited the devs are. Its sad.

I agree. Thats why this topic is about PS4 does Ghosts in 1080P 60fps but the Xbone cant. But then you jumped in and had to add that PC is better graphically anyway.
No probs though...

Ive read the PS4 suffers from frame rate drops occasionally however Ive just read a few articles thay say IW are working on a patch to recitify that..Good.

To be completely honest I can not say I really care whether it's 720 or 1080 because it is pretty trivial at this point.

The real question should not be why can X only run 720 and more on why does it need to run higher?

It could be said that the only reason our PCs can run games at those speeds at those resolutions is because theyre crappy ports of console games, instead of being games developed for us specifically.

In other words, we're the red-headed stepchild who get the scraps, although the scraps run much better on our systems.

I think Microsoft could have easily made the Xbox One 1080p capable, but they did not. I mean that is a mistake that they must live with, and it is certainly on them. As stated, it is another mistake by Microsoft.
