Rumor has it that Crash Bandicoot Might Be Coming to PS4

If you're a child of the 90's then you know about Crash Bandicoot. You might remember him from every single PlayStation 2 commerical in that era including various/amazing games. What you might not know is that Crash was brought to us by Naughty Dog, and for a long time a lot of people thought that we were never going to get another game however:

Crash Bandicoot is definitely on its way to the PlayStation 4. The PS4 is basically the second iteration of the PS2 and they are going to be bringing back some of the biggest games from that era. I did not get to see any game-play, but it is definitely in production.

Now this is from an unnamed source but this site if very reliable but if it's true then I'm really excited.

I hope that's true, I'd love to see Crash back with some platforming goodness. On another note, I thought Crash was most significant during the mid 90s during the PSX-era. I played some of the PS2 games, but I remember him more for the commercials on for the PSX's first year or so.

I would love to see that happen though there are other Naughty Dog classics that I would love to see come back like Jak & Daxter. Still why wouldn't Crash be successful even if it's just one game I could see it doing really well when it comes to nostalgia alone.

Hell, I'd take it even if the graphics weren't up to PS4's minimum. As long as Crash brings exciting platforming, boss fights, and the works I'll be all over it.

...or they could be bringing back Crash as a racing title which is...meh.

Crash isn't Sony's property anymore, so I ask those that are thinking about the original PS1 trilogy to go and take a look at the Crash games we got in the past generation to know what they're getting into first.

The series crashed out of the gaming elite once Naughty Dog left for newer and greener games. The Crash Bandicoot game that came out for the PS2 was a dud and left a bad taste on a lot of fans. That's why the series died. If Crash Bandicoot would be revived, I hope that Naughty Dog would go behind the wheel because they were the ones who spiraled it to stardom in the first place.

I gotta admit, the PS2-era of Crash games weren't worth picking up (especially at new game prices). The PS1 era though? Yes. That's the Crash I'd like back.

And no, SpaceTiger. No one wants racing Crash. After Mario Kart and Diddy Kong race there was an automatic glass ceiling on mascot, fun, non-racing sim racing games.

Well I kind of want Crash in a cart game like his own...and I didn't find the PS2 games too bad. They weren't unplayable.

One of the few 3rd person cart racing games I can bare to play. I'd get this if it comes to PS4 just to entertain family and kids that stop by the house. I'd have a game I play that I could actually help them with and would be interesting to them.

Because, you know, I can't have little kids playing BF4 or Ghosts

I'm not a Crash Bandicoot fan myself, but I do appreciate it for the joy it brings to other people, and I like that it brings with it the sort of simple but fun games that came along with such titles in that generation. If it's a sign of that similar brand of gaming to come back, I'm all for it. Also, they should bring back all the other fun titles they've killed along the way.

If Crash came back, my entire childhood will flow throughout my entire mind and body and I was be in true bliss and tranquility. No joke! That game was the first game I ever played on the 'next generation of gaming'. When 3d gaming came to consoles and took over. I even have all 3 Crash games + Crash Team Racing on my PS3. My wife loves Crash as much as I do.

Except there's an interesting rumor going around that Naughty Dog is working on a new Crash game for the PS4 and that Sony has bought the license back. It's for Eskimo Press, but according to them the source is legit. So it could be at the next E3, we'll be able to see footage of Crash 4. That would be amazing.

I agree. The PS2 era Crash Bandicoot games really weren't that special. The same applies to Spyro too.

Really looking forward to Crash Bandicoot making a good comeback though. I think it's time he did, platformers have not been interesting or good for quite a while now. Also, if you consider the style of graphics it uses, I think there is a lot of potential to make a really really good looking game, and it would add a lot.

I wish the same would happen with Spyro too. Developers really need to pick up their old successful titles we all loved in the 90s and continue them but leaving out the gimmicks and features we don't want, we just want a good fun straightforward platformer.

Developers think we want gimmicky platforming. That's where indie games have gotten platforming right. It's straight forward, complex, reflex testing fun. I'd say that while Mario has adapted some gimmickry--mainly in the form of whatever controller is used and not so much the gameplay--that's the best big league platformer still going. They've changed it up here and there, but kept it largely the way gamers want. Spyro and Crash should've stayed along those same lines.
