So he got a hush console and hush money. All worked out for him then.
Well yeah it did. Shady situations like that with scam undertones will work out well early like in the wave of a launch.

There are still people trying to make $50-$100 off of them here on craigslist too. I walked into a walmart yesterday, and they had 7 in stock. Needless to say, I bought one. lol

Its getting to that time where stores will have them in stock and the holiday demand is gone. I give it another month and you can just walk in anywhere and get one.
Yeah they'll be stock come February and March...ESPECIALLY March because that's deep end of American tax season. People get their checks and start paying off stuff and splurging on me-stuff.

I think the "low availability" is done on purpose to artificially hype the demand for the product. I think they have stockpiles of the console, and just ration it out to keep the mystique going for as long as possible.
I think the low availability is down to sh***y planning on Sony's part--underestimating the demand for the PS4 and having to pinch and distribute what they can.
After so many launches, why would they do this though? Even during the summer, they could see that people wanted the PS4 more than the XB1. Or are both companies scared of having too much stock? With Christmas coming up, there was no reason to not have stockpiles of systems ready to ship at a moments notice. Unless they were using UPS as a shipper, because we know the issues they had.

Because Dan with SCEA--who handles the numbers with doing stock--is really bad at his job. They keep him around since he is a friend of Jack Tretton and he has the highest score on the Evel Knievel pinball machine in the lounge.
...that's Sony's equivalent to tenure.
You have plenty of inside knowledge of SCEA, SpaceTiger. It's getting suspicious.
I'm not sure if you can get one on Amazon yet. They're probably restocked or will be restocking very soon for U.S tax season.

Do you think I can get a PS4 on amazon? I don't see me going to gamestop anytime soon so I would just like it delivered to my house. If not I think I'd just buy it off ebay though. Im ready for the risks
I'm not sure what the situation is with Amazon in the USA but I know in the UK they only have small numbers of very expensive (and not particularly attractive) bundles available which work out to be about as half as expensive as the console again. The standard PS4 on it's on seems to have been continually out of stock since launch.
I’ll be almost certainly buying my PS4 from Amazon. I received a £50 voucher at Christmas and I’m hoping to receive a few more on my birthday in April. I've dropped more than enough hints for the family just to get me Amazon vouchers…! I'll then probably bide my time for a while, waiting for a decent bundle to come along and then take the plunge. Either that or I’ll just buy the PS4 'as is' with nothing and then add a few bits I want. Whatever happens, I certainly won't be paying full price…
