Twitch say's PS4 integration is a game changer

If anything this creates more channels on Twitch and more opportunities for people that don't have an amazing audio set up. When you think about who the big names are with Twitch, it's people who can afford for the most part, the cameras and recording equipment. People like Angry Joe. So yes this helps Twitch but I'm not sure how it's a game changer.

First let me say that I can't stand the phrase game-changer. It's used way too much and people need to knock it off. Still this partnership only helps Twitch because it gives them the boost in numbers that they need. I find that there was a huge segment of gamers that didn't know what Twitch was, but now their using the service for better or for worse.

You couldn't be more right, I still don't know what twitch is *does hasty Google search* and I agree that people use the wod game changer way too much, so much so that its lost some of its clout and is quickly becoming a cliche...

It would be great since with PS4 at the moment there's only so many games you're going to see (about 20) and out of those an even smaller amount depending on how popular the series is.

Twitch isn't a game changer by any means, but it's great that it's available. I hadn't even heard of Twitch until PS4 and then it turned me on to Justin.tv which will replace TV for me alongside Netflix and Hulu Plus.

Same with me. There was a period when I just left wrestling on (there was a 24/7 stream that has since moved to Vaughn live and split into 1990-2001 and 1970s-1989). After some deal was started with Justin.TV and a wrestling group they banned any other wrestling from JTV, but then nothing became of that and wrestling just never returned (unless you watch the regional Mexican channels, then you can catch lucha libre)...even though there's a bunch of copyrighted stuff and sports events there.

As a matter of fact, JTV had the same problems as its sister site, Twitch. If there was a big tournament or whatever going on with Twitch everything slowed down for the smaller channels. With JTV, weekend sports killed all the streams. So much lag...especially when soccer came on since there would be 40-50 streams.

After that, I just watch crime documentaries and Angry Video Game Nerd/Classic Game Room marathons on JTV or DayZ and RPG gameplay on Twitch.

You're right on a huge segment of players didn't know what Twitch was since casuals make up the largest market of roughly anything. I don't think they needed the boost in numbers, but more people can't hurt. The diehards who watch particular streams that pull thousands--usually WoW, LoL, and Starcraft gamers--do extremely well for Twitch in addition to others who play blockbuster games who draw in the lower thousands.

Are everyone/most of everyone you know "hardcore" gamers or gamers between "hardcore" and "casual"? Those groups would be familiar with Twitch, especially hardcore gamers.

Most people I know who don't play games or only play them casually haven't heard of Twitch. There's a few who play that are vaguely familiar with Twitch and others who know exactly what it is and have been watching before PS4 setup camp there.

Personally my brother was the only person familiar with Twitch when comes to people I know outside of the gaming community were familiar with Twitch. They knew of Justin.tv though since I kept mentioning it. They didn't catch on to it until PS4.

It definitely makes it a lot easier and less costly to stream. Before you had to use a bunch of adapters to put it through your PC. It makes a lot of sense to just streamline the whole process. It also raises a few questions about monetization using the PS4/Twitch platform. Will the monetization be completely through the PS4, or will you have to do things through a PC?

I think you'll have to do it through PC for now until Twitch and Sony work out some sort ad setup that doesn't clash with other sponsors.

We used Twitch to prepare for GB/FN matches. We would stream a scrimmage, and have the other members, who were not going to participate in the match, watch us an help us with our tactics. It worked pretty well. The only thing was I had to use a capture card that was hooked up to my Xbox and PC, so there was about a 10 second delay. Now that it's integrated into the PS4, the delay is almost nonexistent.
