Gaming Documentaries

I just finished watching Free to Play, a DOTA 2 documentary by Valve. I enjoyed it quite a bit and it left me wanting more (even though I've never played DOTA 2 and don't have much interest in doing so). Do you guys know of any other video game documentaries that are worth watching?

I also loved Indie Game: The Movie and recommend it too!

Do these count?

History of Grand Theft Auto by Gamspot:

Mortal Kombat 20th Anniversary by Gamespot:

If you like Minecraft, then the feature-length documentary Minecraft: The Story of Mojang I would recommend. I adore Minecraft and watching this made me appreciate it even more. Plus, you can watch it free on Youtube ;)

There is also a The Last of Us Documentary, again feature-length titled Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us which again is free to watch on Youtube. It also was pretty good.

Here's a list for you for more: http://www.heavy.com/games/2013/07/know-your-history-the-15-best-video-game-documentaries/

Sure :). I was looking for longer movies, but I'll take anything! Thanks for the suggestions.

Actually, I already saw Minecraft: The Story of Mojang and completely forgot about it as I created this thread. Enjoyed it as well! Thanks for the link. I'm gonna watch The King of Kong tomorrow. :)

The King of Kong was pretty good from memory. Let us know your thoughts :)

Well I've never seen that much documentaries about video games, but history of video games yeah, that's for sure. But I watched one special in, I think its in the History Channel or Discovery, I'm not so sure, about very offensive video games. I can't remember the title of the documentary, but I remember there was a game there featured and it's called 'Custer's Revenge' where you control this white dude and you have to rape a native American woman, very disturbing.

These sorts of things have no place in games, and should not be in a game at all,R18+ ratings or not.

The King of Kong was great, thanks for the recommendation. It was a lot different than I expected due to the whole good vs evil thing it had. I thought Billy Mitchell was acting and exaggerating his persona a bit, though... :)

I remember someone putting up a link to a documentary about the Video Game Crash in North America. Basically how it was caused by Atari and how Nintendo saved the North American market.

Game On! The Unauthorized History of Video Games:
Approx runtime: 45mins

------------

Video Game Invasion: The History of a Global Obsession
Made in 2004,approx runtime:90mins
