Updating Your PS4

I live in Southeast Asia so the PS4's version which I'm gonna buy is Asian or Region 3 and I want to update the PS4 through the USB. Are the updates region free?

I'm no expert on the matter, but I think the OS itself shouldn't be region free.
I know there are big differences between region 3 and others such as O and X buttons are swaped, so I think the OS and its updates must be catered to that setting.

The updates are all the same,in that I mean when you download it from Sony site and install it to your PS4 it will install language etc relative to your PS4,if you know what I mean.
Short story,there are no diff FW update versions for every country to download,its all in one.
If unsure why not just download it via PS4?
