PS4 reputation system reportedly under consideration

Sony is reportedly considering the possibility of introducing a PS4 user reputation system, among other new features. The user rating system was mentioned in a survey sent to select customers by Sony, according to VGX.

As well as a reputation system, the survey asks respondents to rate the attractiveness of a number of potential features. They include an advanced matchmaking system, cross-chat and synchronisation of messages across PlayStation platforms, the ability to change PlayStation usernames, the capability to party chat with more than eight people at once, and the ability to appear invisible when online.

Hmm.. I'm not quite sure what the point of this will be. I rarely used to look at rep on Xbox Live, and there rep system was broken anyway!

I really hope they don't do the whole rep system. It's beyond broken on Xbox and it'll be just as bad on the PS4. Heck, I got bad rep on Xbox for swearing on the Mic. Fact: I've never used the mic. Don't even have one!

Although, seeing that list, I do think changing your PSN ID is a good idea. I know there will be a flock of gamers who would pay to change their PSN ID.

And definitely would love notifications to pop up when your friends come online. Even though that should really be a thing from the start.

Yeah I'd love to see the friend notifications too.

As for the rep on 360 being beyond broken, I got a bad rep once because I was 'too aggressive' on a fighting game.. I think it was some Fight Night game and I ended up knocking my opponent out in the first round. :o

I'm surprised you didn't get banned for that :p

I cant see how they good properly police a rep system like that. Just another thing that can easily be abused but the sound of it.

As for appearing invisible online, this can already be done on the PS3 (if you know how :o ),and no,Im not talking about using the unavailable option.

Didn't the Xbox 360 come with the headset that attaches to the controller? PSN ID change is a great idea. I know some people complained that their friends wouldn't know who they were but Steam did something cool when it came to that. Next to their Screen name is an arrow drop down so you can see all the other names that were used under that account in the past. I thought that was a clever way to fix that problem.

You have to give the fans a good fight, they paid good money after all :P

As for the ranking system I think it's a terrible idea, glad everyone agrees. A system like this will only work when the vast majority of players don't abuse it, sadly as we all know online gamers can be an immature bunch of people and will use the ranking system as a way to cause trouble. Sadly the problem the system is trying to fix is the reason it will fail.

Yeah, this seems like something easily abusable. IMO, if someone's being obnoxious on the mic, you mute them. If they disrupt you gameplay wise, kick them or report them. Reputation systems never really work cause there's a lot of 12 year olds on consoles.

That's awesome lol

The X1 knew you would swear. Built in ESP was one of the features they wanted on the Xbox 360 that made it to the Xbox One.

Quit swearing, Haze.

The first year I owned a 360 I trolled online multiplayer games. A year after I bought it I started following Jesus and was able to cut swearing out of my vocabulary (unless you count getting mad and getting hurt... then all bets are off!!). I quit trolling people online and being a jerk for no reason. After 7 more years of playing without being rude or swearing I still never got past having a bad rep for being aggressive, bad language, and being unsporting. Rep systems are a joke.

I never understood turning someone in for language... wouldn't they have to turn in like 99% of the people that use a mic?? I'm with sparkblade14, there is a mute button so you don't have to cry about hearing them.
