How long has the PS3 got?

This is exactly what I was saying I honestly think that the PS3 has a lot more life in it. I mean although the PS4 and Xbox one came out I will tell you that I still enjoy playing games on my PS3. I think that the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are two of the best consoles that have ever been released in the world of gaming.

If the current trends continue, we will be enjoying our PS3s and 360s for a long while before we have any reason to get their successors. There is just not enough games for them to make them worthwhile (though I do have to say that Bloodborne is making me want a PS4 right now!)

According to articles I've read, sony have commented that the PS3 has at least another two years so 2014 and 2015 and then they said some of the line up would be reduced. So at least 2 years, possibly 3 before things move downhill for PS3.

Interesting. I had not heard of this. Makes me wonder if it's gonna be them trying to force devs to move towards the PS4 or if it's something they will only do if the PS4 becomes successful enough to truly succeed the PS3...

First of all thank you for not pulling up my typo I made at the start PS4 instead of PS3.

Here's an article on it: http://www.slashgear.com/playstation-3-has-2-4-years-left-in-it-according-to-sony-11316546/

They're saying its good for at least this year and next and then things might die off a little in year three and four but ultimately by that time the PS3 will be very long in the tooth.

There is still plenty of time for it, no less than three or four years. Hopefully it lasts longer but the way it is with technology its really hard to say.

I think by next year it will start to reseed and maybe another 2 years it will completely die out. But I hope it will last as long as the PS2 did, the hardware on the PS3 is still pretty good for another year I guess but then again the lack of games and support might kill it off sooner.

The PS3 has quite a while left for it, this fact is sealed with the coming of Persona 5. Persona 3 and 4 brought a lot of new life to the ps3. I also don't think people want to buy new PS4s quite just yet..

They don't have forever but they probably have at least a few years. If the upper level management leaves then who knows what could happen. I think that they are reassessing things and making decisions from that.

Probably will be 2016. I think next years e3 will have the last few main games shown coming to ps3/360 and then after that most developers will move on towards the new generation of consoles. The user base is just too big to risk it at the moment. Exactly why GT6 was released on PS3 and not PS4 which I think is a wise choice.

I think the PlayStation 3 still has a whole lot of life left. The PlayStation 2 barely died out just a couple of years ago if I am not mistaken, so I would imagine Sony could milk the PlayStation 3 even longer than the did the PlayStation 2.

Year and a half ago. Right when they started to manufacture or at least tool for manufacturing the PS4. January 2013 was when the last PS2 moved off the assembly line.

Sony is really good about keeping old consoles alive. And people bought them. They'll keep manufacturing the PS3 until they start manufacturing the PS5. When they discontinued the PSX, that was when the PS3 was gearing up for release. PS3 I will say will be discontinued from manufacturing in about 5-6 years. Online support, who knows. We are in virgin territory with game consoles this time around. With the older consoles, they didn't have the level of connectivity as consoles today do. They are entirely dependent online today and can be supported with games and updates for years. So really, who knows anymore.

I dont know exactly but i feel that it has some time left on it. I mean there are upcoming games that are being released on it. I know that next gen consoles are out but it doesnt mean that much. I know a few people who are not completely satisfied with the next gen so they continue to play their ps3. It was a great system so ho knows for sure.

I think with the ridiculous pricing models these gaming companies are presenting to gamers nowadays all consoles are going to be having longer lives then before and probably longer than their next gen counterparts. I'd rather keep playing last gen games then to have to rent games for a few hours. I could understand a fair rental system with an option to purchase a game for a reasonable price but from what I've read on here that isn't the case.

2016? Really?
I can see SOME games come out on both PS4 and PS3.. But you're going to see some PS4 exclusive games.. If I were a betting man, I'd say this Christmas you will see that shift.

Look at the Wii and Wii U (bad example maybe). Some games came out on both for awhile, then there was a few that were only on the U.

I say early or mid 2015 until you don't see any new PS3 games.

I'd give it 2-3 years more. The games will be released more on more on pc&ps4&xbox one, so the old ps3 won't be getting any new titles. But it's ok. Even 2 years would be great.
