First Person or Third Person

Which kind of game/view do you prefer? I, myself, prefer Third Person. There's just something about First Person games that makes me feel so dizzy. I could be in a perfect condition, but after playing 10 minutes of Left4Dead, bam! It's like I auditioned to be an astronaut. I hate it, because there are really good games that I want to play but I can't because of my dizziness. An example would be Skyrim, I know it can be switched to Third Person, but if you have played it and remembers the first part, where you are still cuffed/chained and you have to be executed, you are in First Person and you can not switch to Third Person. And sadly, I can't even survive that. I get too dizzy.

I prefer Gears of War over Call of Duty so I guess my vote has to go to third person. Yeah I would also put my vote towards third person shooters. I like to see the character I'm playing as as opposed to being a talk-less character who we hardly see. Kind of takes me out of the game. But that's just me.

I prefer to play in third person, even in racing games I like to play in third person view. My reasoning behind it is that it's easier to maneuver and you at least get to see the main part of what makes the character design different, as all first person shooting games would only ever show differences in the guns and environments you play in.

I am a third person gamer if I'm given the option. I don't mind first person games, but some of the greatest games have been in a third person state of mind. There is always Half Life to fall back onto when it comes to something that's so good at First Person it makes you weep. That game is amazing. There's also Team Fortress 2. Those games are PC though. For console, third person all the way!

I always prefer the first person perspective, it's the most interesting and get me more into the game. But some games that offer first person view have it really bad and it spoils the fun for me. FPS do it best, because they just offer one view and make it great, not like other games that offer a lot and most of them bad.

I prefer third person shooters to be honest. I don't have a problem with first person shooter and even jot quite a few of them. Still I much prefer the camera angles that are provided by the third person camera angle. I like that I get a complete overview of my surroundings and not just what's in front of me. Still, it looks like first person shooters will still be the main money makers so I don't see there reign ending anytime soon.

I like first person, myself. It did take some getting used to, as I started playing games when the first person option didn't exist. Though, these were 2D games, so third person didn't exist as it does now either. I started playing FallOut in first person, and really enjoyed it. Now, third person makes my head dizzy. I have a harder time moving around in third person because I'm so unused to it.

I would say it depends on the genre. For example for Stealth I prefer 3rd person like in Hitman or Splinter Cell , rather than first person like in Deus Ex. But for straight up shooters I prefer first person. The confusion comes in RPG games , in particular Bethesda games which give you the opportunity to play in 3rd person but really they are meant to be played in first person. Normally I prefer first person for shooting , but when using hand to hand combat, first person feels wrong to me. Hence why I prefer War of the Roses over Chivalry.

I agree, it depends on the genre as well. Normally, I'm in favor of third person since you can see what's behind you and turn around more easily to see your surroundings. It's also simpler to aim since you get an overview of where you're shooting, and how you're missing. I only prefer first person when I'm playing FPS's, hence then name.

I also get dizzy/sick when I play first person games for too long so I tend to prefer third person.
There's also something about being able to see your character, especially if it's a game where you change or upgrade your gear.

Basically I really have no preference into either. I mean some games I will usually play one style more than the other but if a game uses one instead of the usual other I don't seem to take much mind to it.

I love the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, they are a fantastic first-person RPShooter, but I also enjoy Warframe and that is a third-person shooter. If I had to choose just one though I would probably say I like first-person more since I seem to play more games that way.

I would also like to mention the other views, like isometric or top down. What do you all think of that like in Fallout or Torchlight?

I feel for you. I, too, can't play first person games where the camera moves too much. I was even looking forward to playing Kingdom Hearts and Harvest Moon but I can't because I feel really dizzy to the point that I feel like vomiting. For some reason, I prefer playing games where the screen is fixed on the scene or I can control the angles manually. It's a waste, though, cause there are tons of great first-person rpgs.

Depends on the game. Games like CoD and Battlefield FPS is great and Ive no problem with it but I could'nt image it in something like GTA or RDR,3rd person is defo suited for that.
But when it come to dedicated shooting games I prefer FPS,games that are 3rd person shooters I dont like, for eg something like Socom.

I prefer third-person as well in almost every case. First person gets disorienting for me. I also have the completely cliche girl-gamer problem of being terrible at FPS because I can't aim properly XD

Haha i've noticed this to be incredibly true with chicks. Women to FPS are like men playing Sims. Disorientated, confused and unsure of what's going on.

My missus plays CoD sometimes, she doesnt seem to have that problem but she does seem a little scared of running around to much and prefers to 'camp'.
