Had a scary moment today

The shelf on our entertainment system that was holding up our PS3 collapsed this morning, dumping it on the floor. We quickly tried to run it to see if it was okay, but it kept on saying "Unsupported Mode" for some reason. After a lot of swearing and messing with settings, my brother got the bright idea to swap out and use a different HDMI cable, and that turned out to be what fixed it; the PS3 was fine.

XD Thank god it just damaged the cable and not the PS3 itself.

So scary! I'm always petrified something's going to fall on my PS3 and crush it, even though I don't have anything lurking above it. Same thing with my computer, actually, haha!

My laptop fell off it's table the other day. I hate it when my stomach falls also! Thanks for the tip about the HDMI cable, lucky your brother thought of that before you went out and bought a whole new console.

Ugh, I have a fear of dropping/squashing/ruining my electronics, too. I'm forever worried about spilling liquids on my computer, for instance. Glad to hear that your PS3 was okay!

I am quite clumsy so things like that happen to me quite a bit. I am always dropping my laptop or tripping over cords and pulling them out of the plug-ins. At least your PS was fine!

Yeah, if we'd broken it, there'd be no buying a new one for a while. lol, Took us forever to squirrel away the extra money for the first one.

Man, you are so lucky! I would have wet myself, if I watched any of my consoles crash to the ground. I probably would have never thought to trade out wires, either.

You are lucky! Who would have thought that the shelf would fall and could crash your PS3? Man it's too darn expensive to be dropping it again! Glad your brother got it fixed... Secure that shelf or a new one!

Yikes, you are so lucky that nothing happened to the system itself! I've never trusted heavier electronics up high for that reason. My PS3, PS2, and Wii are all tucked in the low shelves of my TV stand. And blocked against my bunny, who thinks expensive things have the tastiest electrical cords.

Fortunately it didn't fall far; just a foot and a half or so. We're in the middle of a move, so a lot of our furniture has been jostled around. I guess that particular shelf got a little more shaken up than we realized.

A computer/laptop is usually the reason I have a balance on my Visa. If it breaks I don't wait and since I don't have a car I get it shipped immediately. Keep your fingers crossed--Visa will be paid off after Christmas and laptop is only a year old so hopefully I;ll have a while before having a Visa balance again. :)
