Did you play Dance Dance Revolution on the PlayStation?

Dance Dance Revolution first made its mark during the time of the original PlayStation. Though I did not love to dance, I got myself a dance mat just for the hang of it. After using it a couple of times, I decided to just store the mat in a drawer, never to be seen again. Did you ever try to play a DDR game on the original PlayStation?

My brother used to play on the dance mat, but in truth he would use the controller to try to "cheat" through DDR. I did dance, but I'm not really that good in the game.

I have played on the arcade version multiple times but I don't actually know anyone with the dance mat, I don't think it was hugely popular in the UK. I never really saw the appeal for it anyway to be honest.

Haha, I'm guilty of this too. It's a lot easier to rack up points when using the controller. When there's a difficult song, I tried it out first with the controller before going to the mat and embarrass myself.

Yes, and I still do. I know that's a shameful fact to be admitting, but honestly I enjoy the workout and it makes my niece laugh herself sick. Unfortunately it also makes my sister laugh herself sick, but whatever. Now if only I could get as good as that fat guy from YouTube. His little legs were moving. You know... I wonder if they're making something like this for the Rift system?

There are a couple of things preventing me from playing any dance games. The first is the fact that my house has a crawlspace under it rather than solid concrete, so moving around on the floor transfers a lot of energy around (it makes bookshelves and TV stands wobble). Second, most of those games have absolutely terrible soundtracks (with the exception, perhaps, of the DDR games themselves). I'm pretty open-minded about music but if I have to listen to Call Me Maybe one more time, I may just vomit.

I played with it a few times at a relative's house, but I never really found it enjoyable. Dancing on a mat was far inferior to the experience of the actual arcade, but for what it was I think it was pretty okay. I wouldn't mind playing it even today, since I'm sure it will still be just as fun because it doesn't really age due to it not being too reliant on graphics.

One of the big problems that I had with the dance mat is that it slipped most of the time whenever I would step on one of the arrows. It resulted in a game over screen most of the time. Also, my dance mat did not register all the steps accurately. I don't know. Maybe the mat that I purchased is substandard. DrRipley is right. The arcade experience is far more superior.

No, I have never actually played a Dance game on a console. I mainly played them at the local arcades since it was always something different and I honestly could never see myself buying a dance game for myself. They are pretty fun though and I can see why many people love them. I will admit I'm not the best dancer by any means, but I can definitely hold my own in a game of Dance Dance Revolution.

No, I didn't play any of these dance games and I still don't. Just something that totally passed by without having any impact on me.

But I played a demo version of Parappa the Rapper. That was fun.

To be honest, I like music rhythm games a lot better than dance rhythm games. I got a lot more satisfaction from playing Um Jammer Lammy, Guitar Hero and Rock Band games rather than Dance Dance Revolution games. Dance games are great if I want to get a few laughs though.

I definitely played Dance Dance Revolution on the Playstation, what a great game that was! Might have to play it again just for fun. I remember going crazy on the dance mat numerous times at friends house's.

I actually did, it was one of the games my local youth center had a few years back.
The youth center had the PS3, PS2, PS1, Xbox, Xbox 360. It also had a pretty decent collection of games for each console, my friends and I would actually spend an three or four hours a week at the youth center playing Dance Dance. We were so good at the game that the ladies could not resist us and we eventually could never go back for fear of getting mobbed by attractive girls.
