Amazon Sells Out of PlayStation 4 Launch Editions

They are still taking orders fro the standard edition but not guaranteeing it will be sent on the release date. They broke all previous records, taking 2500 orders per minute. It's not clear if they will make consoles available to retailers on the release day. I got my launch edition order in did you?

2500 orders per minute sounds crazy, and since it's only Amazon, that would then mean that it doesn't even account for all countries nor for the numbers of orders that the other retailers are also getting. I never imagined that's how big the console market has gotten now, and I've read that Gamestop has also sold out their PS4 launch sales too. I'm not getting one though, I'm waiting a year or so before I get one, as I always do.

It's funny I didn't think Amazon was a big international presence either but they made the news again yesterday for being audited in Germany. It seems in 2012 they channeled $8.7 billion in sales from Germany through Luxembourg so they only declared a $13 Million profit. Germany has a 30% tax rate so they are not happy with the loophole. Anyway that's a lot of das Kindles.

That's an awesomely high tax rate, but Germany is probably profitable then. I would think that if there's a country that's going to get their money its going to be Germany. I mean, their language comes off as "I'll stab you man." and they have great accents to boot. Awesome bit of news there.

The time it took for it to all sell out was incredible. At most, it took a week, it shows how people are very excited for the console. I might pre-order it before it releases, but at the moment, I'm still considering which one to buy. Even other online stores, or even physical stores like Target has sold out which is very impressive.

I finally preordered my PS4 on the official Sony website.
I do not know if I will have fortunate to have the edition Day One, but I c kings that this is possible.

I definitely want to have this console, but I must not forget that I need a subscription Playstaion Plus.
Hey, it will not be easy in my opinion.

I pre-orded mine at Gamestop right after the E3 Conference! I'm ready to go!!

and this is pretty good new's I'm excited to see how well PS4 is going to do on release day!
just hope no one shots anyone over any of the consoles... :-S

The launch edition is the dumbest-sounding yet most brilliant idea ever. There's really nothing different about it; they just slap a fancy decal on the controller and call it a special edition. I don't see the point in buying a PS4 (or Xbox One) when it first comes out other than so you can say that you did.

I'd like a PS4 at launch, just so I can start buying next-gen titles and get the cost out of the way as early as possible, but from the sounds of it, by the time launch hits, they'll be all out of them anyways! Funny how stuff like this sells, huh?

Really great to see that they now have launch editions of the PS4 back in stock again. Like I've been saying for a while now, Sony has been making all the right moves so far with the PS4 and this proves it once again. I bet it won't be long before these launch editions sell out again, so I'm sure many people are preordering right now. I wonder when GameStop will get more PS4's in stock though.

As much as I think that a lot of people are jumping the gun here, it is interesting to see how the preoders are flying off the shelves (without the consoles even being produced yet ). The marketing drive is definitely very strong for this generation of consoles, and E3 was definitely a big turning point for a lot of people. I know quite a few staunch Microsoft supporters that very quickly turned away and preordered a PS4.

That is absolutely astounding, and I bet retailers are going out of stock by the day, perhaps even by the hour! There has been discussion lately about who is going to outsell whom. Looking at this nigh untraceable rate of preorders coming in makes me think that the answer as to that question will be answered on as early as the official release. Microsoft better not hold their breaths and make some more changes soon! Speaking of which, I wonder how their system is selling with retailers, any chance they are going out of stock too? If so, then it will probably be very close.

It's great that the masses are starting to jump all over the PS4. But trust me, it'll be back in stock before the launch date...and it will most likely sell out again. The thing about this is that you know Sony is going to keep trying to meet the pre order demand with constant shipments. So if anyone is upset for missing a pre order, don't be. You'll get your chance a few times before launch date.

Safe to say, you'll probably have to pre-order a ps4 if you want to use it in the first 2 weeks of release.
