I love how the 3ds using augmented reality technology in the game faceraiders. I am glad that sony is also going to employ the technology with the ps4. Here is a video of how the "eye" will employ the technology to augment your environment (a living room in this example):

This is truly innovative. I can imagine doing this with my friends over, or even at a party!

I'm glad that they are doing this with the controllers of the system, but anyone who has played pocket god has already experienced this. I get it, but it also scares me that people will use it to cop out on mechanics in their games. "Wipe your screens to clean this off" It'd be better to use it to add bonuses to reloading weapons or even find ways to make really cool sniping or something.

We'll see what they do.

It's surely impressive, but I personally can't get all that excited for it unless they integrate it well into games. I remember playing the Kinect for a while and getting sick of it just a few hours later, and I suspect this is what will happen with this gimmick as well if they do not develop it further enough beyond the novelty aspect of it.

Yeah, I am also worried that they think it will sell on its own due to the novelty factor. Like 3ds incorporating the augmented reality style in only one or two games so far. That doesn't cut it. It needs to be used and used widely in multiple games.
