Best game of the year so far?

2013 has been an incredible year as far as gaming goes. With over 2 months still left and some great games yet to come, I thought it would be nice if people mentioned the their favorite games from the ones that have come out so far.

My personal favorite is Bioshock Infinite and I have already praised it enough for its great characters and interesting story line. It is perhaps a step removed from my all time favorite games like RDR, Bioshock, CS 1.6 etc.

So, which one is your favorite? Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, GTA V, Arkham City or something else?

Has to be GTA V for me. Been a while since I've enjoyed a game this much. The story line is great and there's tons of humor. That on top of the fact there's so much to do in the game. Hands down my favorite this year.

I think we all can agree that GTA V easily takes the prize here, although I'm sad for Last of Us, if it wasn't for Rockstar's game it would be game of the year for sure.
Bad luck for naughty dog :/

For me it is also GTA V. I am not the kind of person to go out and buy many games becaues they are quite expensive really, so for me to purchase a game right away it has to be highly anticipated. GTA was definetely the top of my most anticipated games of this year.

I don't own a PS3, nor have I played GTA V (yet), but based on what I've seen from the different forums I'm in, I can safely say that Grand Theft Auto V takes home the price as game of the year. The fact that Rockstar didn't disappoint the gamers is a true testament that they really care about their consumers. Yes, it wasn't perfect, like the GTA:Online fiasco, but I think Rockstar did a pretty great job redeeming themselves through various patches and updates. Good job Rockstar! I can't wait for the PC Version!

Definitely Last of Us, it has one of the greatest story telling in a game I've experience until now you just end up caring so much about the characters and you experience a bunch of emotions through out the game thanks to this aspect of the game.

Id like to think it was bioshock infinite, but the last of us got a lot of hype to it, and noone can deny that GTA V has been a big winner.

I think the real big winners this year were the gamers. Multiple triple A titles, TWO new consoles AND a new generation of AMD graphics cards, Multiple wins!

Wow GTA V really did make an impact on pretty much everyone. I've played the game but haven't bought it as yet so I am not sure how much I'll like it once I put a lot more time into it but based on the hype I would say it is not impossible for it to unseat Bioshock Infinite in my eyes.

No love for Arkham City though?

The Last of Us, definitely. Don't know if we'll have a better game next year, but I hope so and doubt it! Really amazing game.

GTA V feels like it still has love being poured into it, so I'd pick that one. Some of the other games are good and are as well made, but feel a bit cold, if that makes sense.

GTA V is by the far the best. If you have played it, you will know how great the game is. I would also say that Last of Us is a close second.

Another vote for GTA5.

Which I find quite interesting because it was just a year ago that FPS games were dominating the industry and posting record sales numbers. It's cool to look at how far gaming has come. Game releases do better than blockbuster movies in terms of units sold and overall profits (which ain't hard at $60 a pop).

It seems that my opinion is the same as the majority on here! I would've said The Last of Us, but the I bought GTA V and it was just amazing. Still, The Last of Us has an amazing storyline and gameplay, very tense atmosphere and all round fun to play.

For me, the best games I have played this year are all on the 3DS. I would have to decide between Animal Crossing New Leaf and Pokemon X and Y. They are both outstanding additions to their respective franchises.

I just don't know, now. The Wolf Among Us has just begun and The Walking Dead Season 2 is right around the corner, both are strong contenders for me. GTAV is of course a good contender but I feel that there's not too much to do once one has beaten the story missions (being able to do some procedurally-generated heists or some such would have helped).

Hotline Miami is another excellent choice, when it comes to indies and I personally can't leave out Dragon's Crown which at least deserves a mention as I've played over 100 hours on that game and it's just a mixture of genres that I love (loot-heavy ARPG + beat-'em-up is like heaven for me)

Can't really choose one. It's been a good year, I think, and there's still some strong titles yet to be released before the year is over.

Probably GTA V and Fifa 13 (since 14 it's on the next year's list), Last of Us was also a good one, and the last GoW released was pretty cool aswell, but if I had to go down to only one would probably pick the GTA V since it's the most innovational one in terms of an actual game.
