Breaking the Ice with the PS 3

We all have friends who aren't into gaming. We also have family who have no idea what a controller is. What are some of the experiences you'd recommend to get their feet wet with the PS 3. I wouldn't want my sister who can barely use her Wii to jump into Uncharted or Killzone. There are some games on Xbox that are good but I don't feel like getting an Xbox One to eventually let her borrow it.

So, here it is, what are those games that get people addicted to gaming?

Game with very a very good plot/ending. Assassin's Creed, God of War, Far Cry series, ect I think those kind of games make you want to expand on what games you play. It makes you try other games hoping that the plot gives you thrill. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. I never thought I would get into First Player shooter games, but once I played Far Cry and Battlefield the plots in those games made me expand to try other similar games. Eventually you branch off to entirely new types of games. At least thats what I think.

For women, maybe you should try Angry Birds. Lol. For the sporty type, then you could introduce them to NBA 2K13, Fight Night Champion or Virtua Tennis. If you have somebody who's into movies, then you should suggest that you show them cinematic games like Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War 3, Uncharted or Tomb Raider. So, it would really depend. If you want something in general that would be appreciated by all, maybe you could try a party game like PlayStation All Stars.

I know there are a few people who really don't like playing video games but I know quite a few who will watch other people play them. For a few people, something like Little Big Planet could definitely get them interested since it's a game that can be enjoyed by all but is pretty family friendly as well. Games like Uncharted have that movie like feel to them so maybe that could get them interested in trying it out. Then there are also sports games that many people enjoy as well. The best thing to do is find out their preferences and recommend them something.

I'm sure this won't help, but my girlfriend was pretty much against playing video games. But, I introduced her to the original Skate. Now, she's a part-time gamer (well, casual as of late) :)

Fight Night can be played and won with just using the two analog sticks, so if you're looking for something easier to pick up, then it might be a good place to start. Of course all the other buttons function as well, and you'll probably have a better chance of winning if you knew all of them intricately and how to use them at the right time, but just using the top buttons and the analog stick would suffice and it's definitely going to prove to be a lot simpler than most other games. Either that, or racing games, since those tend to be pretty straightforward.

Yeah, I somehow forgot to include racing games on my list of games that would be accessible to people with little know how when it comes to gaming. Fighting games like Tekken Tag 2 and Soul Calibur would also be a blast to play especially multiplayer. Or better yet, try to give them a dose of Just Dance.

Play Station All Stars is also a pretty good game to get. It has a lot of characters from different games and it is fun on multiplayer.

It really depends on what their interests are. If you are really looking to introduce them to gaming, what you might want to try is getting them involved with watching you play a game you think they'll be interested in or the cutscenes and whatnot, but make sure they're engaged in it. It's much easier to introduce a child to gaming for this reason, because every part of any game or novel experience will intruige them.

It's probably not something that will happen overnight, but teach them about the controller starting with, well, the fact that it controls the personalities in the game as well as the gameplay. Let them give it a shot at times with games that are easy to get used to, games you would otherwise not consider playing because they aren't challenging enough or too childish for you, for instance. Then, work your way up to introducing them to more and more challenging games and by then, they'll possess enough skill with the controller to really enjoy games with depth like Assassin's Creed, GoW, etc. You won't get anywhere if they aren't interested, though, so find something that will interest them. I ran into this exact same problem with a few of my past girlfriends and this method worked out pretty well.

Games where you can't really lose are good. The Lego games are pretty good, since there's no way to technically lose like in most games. Other games like LittleBigPlanet, which are family-friendly but not strictly kids' games, are probably good to help people get accustomed to controllers and whatnot. After that, it's just a matter of preference, really. Practice does make perfect.

The new Tomb Raider is pretty Awesome!
Bioshock infinite, Epic Story really makes you think!!
if you like RPG's can't go wrong with Final Fantasy 13,
but also White Knight Chronicles 1-2.
thats all I have atm.

I would suggest some open world games without any set goal. That way the player can get accustomed to the controls and just have a go doing things at their own pace. I would avoid skill based games and games with a heavy storyline . As some people have suggested; the lego games are pretty good and light hearted.
