Buy Physical or digital copies of games?

Yeah, seriously man! What's up with that?

Surely they save a few bucks not having to bundle the game in a case and disk etc. Not to mention the packaging. Why the hell are they offered at the same price regardless?

This really makes no sense and I hope next gen we would have cheaper digital games than their physical counterparts.

I don't know why digital and physical edition are priced same. Maybe they do it because they want people to buy physical editions as well.

I prefer the physical game due to I play the game for months and then I o trade them afterwards. I have bought older games from the psn that was digital. I just feel that the new physical games has more value than the digital. I am also so afraid Sony screwing my account up. For example if I bought all of these game on my account what if something goes wrong with my account?

I prefer digital, just because it's a lot more convenient, but I would make sure that I will get to keep and play the games even without an account or online connection, since I would hope to still be able to play them long after the console's life cycle has ended. If the terms of purchase turn out to be just as good as buying physical media, then I'd opt for it, otherwise I don't have that much of a problem with getting the disc version anyway, mostly, I just dislike having to change discs when changing games.

I would always prefer physical copies of games over digital copies as well. There is nothing better than purchasing a physical copy of a game, and getting the chance to open it up and play it. There are always problems with physical copies as well. Nothing rarely goes wrong with physical copies as well. There is really no difference in either, because they both are expensively priced.

On average,retail maybe.
But I can tell you now I can buy Ghosts AND BF4 on PS3 on 'online shops' hard copies for AUD $120-140 while on PSN one game for digital download would be AUD $110.
AND I can sell or trade my hard copies later.I cant do that with digital,its a total loss after.So for me,there is a MASSIVE difference between hard copy and digital.

I'd usually go for a physical copy personally. I just like having the case and disc to own, it somehow feels like I've gotten more of my money's worth, and like onezeon said it gives you an option to trade in too.

It's an interesting question, I don't know how many people know this but when you buy a digital copy of anything (music, apps, games) you don't actually own it. You just have permission to use it, you can't trade it and when you die the item can't be passed on. The rights of ownership are soley on the person that "bought" it and dies with them...

Physical because you can usually find them used or cut in price. You'll almost never find a digital copy of a game that's on sale..

I like having a physical product in my hand. I love box art and everything that comes with buying a physical game. I don't mind digital purchases, but if you give me the option, I will always go with physical.

The way digital is set up right now it is like everything is half price for me. For every PSN title I buy I get 2 copies. I paid $120 for 4 copies of GTA5. That's only $30 a game. It was even nicer when Sony would give you 5 copies in the beginning. If how ever they knock it down to just 1 copy or change the PSN in a way that the game can only be played on one console at a time I will definitely go back to physical.

See that is a real incentive to buy digital games. As a Nintendo fan, it is frustrating that buying games digitally only gives you a few more Club Nintendo points. If there were discounts, I would consider buying digitally more often.

It's the same with books. I prefer to buy books physically, so I can hold them in my hands and put them on a shelf or something. Digital copies of a game make me feel cheated, since I can't enjoy all the artwork that comes with a case.

Nintendo is a train wreck like no other, No offense. When we bought our second wii we found out all digital downloads were console locked. When we bought our wii U the first thing we did was set up our online accounts only to find out our gamer ID was console locked. Once I found out I could not take my ID and put it on another console I was pretty much done with Nintendo and will be until they at least let me move my ID to another console.

Personally I'd always go out my way for the physical copy of the game because you control what happens to it... But when cheap or free digital copies are available, I have no problem snapping them up. I would prefer it if you were sent a copy of the game instead of just the data though!

With physical you can sell them on, plus they don't take as much room on your PS4. With digital they will take up loads of space plus you can't let a friend borrow them. They are convenient to download, but only if you have a fast connection as they will take ages to download. Personally I like physical.

As a collector, I prefer to buy the Physical copies. I think they look really good in the shelf's above my television! And if I ever need some money, I can just sell them which would be hard to do if I had digital copies. I guess it's just a win/win situation since space is not an issue.

Phisycal unless you have a beastly good internet, because the size of the games are huge.
