Buy Physical or digital copies of games?

There is at least one upside however of the physical disc. RESALE! I'll give you that one. Anyhow, just my 2 cents.

I go for boxed simply based on that reason. Being able to sell/trade them if I want to, and I don't necessarily have to regret a purchase I've made. Plus there's something exciting about taking new games out of the box and putting them in the console before you start playing. Pushing a button and watching a download bar just doesn't have the same effect.

Physical copies for consoles and digital for handhelds. The advantage to digital though is that you tend to run into sales more often on a console or handheld's store. Then again, you'd run into solid sales on Amazon for physical titles as well...not to mention you can usually find a recent game for less than retail.

...just with handhelds, it's best to have them available on you digitally than wondering about with a dork pouch full of games.

Physical and only physical copies for me. I do agree with digital being best for handhelds and drmrw's reasons. If you're a collector or like actually holding the game digital is no good. There's nothing wow about scrolling through the text of the games you own if you like collecting games.

I like to buy the digital copies because I have kids and they have lost and even broken at least 5-10 discs in the past 5 years and they've lost them more than 50 times it seems. Besides, I used to trade games but that's kind of going out of style it seems and most places don't give you much for them. I love gaming so I like to keep my games now, though physical copies are good for one thing in my opinion; if you hate the game you can sell it.

Another + for digital. I bought AC4 on my PS3 and paid the $10 to upgrade to the PS4. I now have 2 copies on the PS3 and 1 so far on the PS4. haven't got around to downloading it on the second PS4 yet. 3 confirmed copies with season pass that anyone of my family members can play while logged into their own PSNid at the same time. With a physical disk only 1 at a time could play for the price I paid.

That's pretty sweet actually, didn't realize you can do all that. I knew you could do the whole 10 dollar upgrade but I'm glad they're doing the family sharing thing. That's good news for my brother and I.

I think if you grew up in the 80's and 90's you're more attached to phsycial copies. Having the disk, opening it up to reveal all booklet (which back then all the booklets were amazing), putting it into the console and loading it. I'm still pretty attached to booklets even though now all you're getting is the disk.

Then you probably remember using a pencil eraser on the contacts of your Nintendo carts when they stopped working!

Digital is the way we're going so fans of physical discs need to enjoy it while it lasts. I definitely see a time when physical discs go away and I think that time is fast approaching. Let's face it more and more games are coming out digitally first and then physical releases and by the time the next console cycle comes I wouldn't be surprised if it was all digital.

You also have to take into account that many places have sub standard internet speeds so downloading 40GB games is painfully slow.
Not to mention limited HDD space on default PS4 HDD if you download only.
For me too,its discs no question. Digital has no advantages for me at all.
I agree digital only will happen eventually, but this new generation at least we have discs too. Good.
