Call of Duty: Ghosts lead PS4 launch

My understanding is that some of the cooler games for the PS4 are free (especially for PS Plus) is completely free. Is it that people are buying it for the first time, or is it in the amount of people that are purchasing the upgrade. I'm not sure about the interest, is it just because it's Call of Duty? Regardless the number aren't all that impressive since I imagine if you check the free downloads that those numbers are even higher.

Interesting to see this data, but I've always been skeptical of VGChartz. They've been known to not be the most accurate source. They are a good for aggregating all the reliable data into one place. I know they use NPD, Media Create, etc.. to come up with worldwide estimates, but I've also seen instances where they claim to have the most recent and latest numbers but their sales are just based on algorithms and recent sales trends. I think they claim to have sales for consoles updated weekly or something, but there is no way that is even possible. Even Sony, MS, and Nintendo don't have that information which is why they rely on NPD numbers to make announcements to the public.

Regardless, appreciate the link. Glad to see Killzone doing pretty well. I always thought that was a series that deserved more recognition and that this would be a good time for it to shine since it was a launch title and one of the only next generation FPS games (there is CoD and Battlefield, but both of those have current generation counter parts, so they weren't built from the ground up for the PS4 of Xbone).

I can understand why Call Of Duty Ghosts leads the PS4 Launch. It is a very renowned game, that excels in almost every area. It also has a great amount of modes, that would entertain anyone playing. It also has the online features as well.

There might be another increase for Call of Duty: Ghost, but I doubt it’ll be significant. I guess when it comes to hopefully playing with new weapons, perks, and such, people will be all over to see which guns are overpowered.

I wonder if it’ll still be consistent in the lead after a few months though. Would be fairly abnormal to see an exponential increase that would top Call of Duty, but like DPatel304 stated, these are merely estimations.

The thing is that a lot of people already own COD and would just have to purchase the upgrade. So while I can see a people who may not own it buying it, I wish that the chart included the freebies that were offered because it's obvious that none of those games on the list would be a title that it seems like a lot of PS4 owners enjoy like Resogun.

My understanding of some recent articles is that sales have dropped for Call of Duty but that shouldn't be the surprise that the industry thinks it is. A lot of people already owned the game on the PS3 with only a few holdout for the PS4. The numbers weren't really all that impressive because you didn't have to buy a new game. If they factored in the number of people who download the $10 upgrade then COD's number would be much higher.

I have to say I'm looking forward to plaing GHOSTS as I am one of those who has held out so I can play it solely on the PS4.

I was hoping to be playing Watchdogs by Friday night but with that getting pushed back until next April GHOSTS it is.

It's been a pretty consistent title over the years so looking forward to it.
