Can you name one female gaming protagonist who is not sexy?

The thing is, most female and male protagonists are attractive or cute or sexy. It would be hard for a general consensus of people to like a protagonist who wasn't visually appealing in any way. Even Kratos is attractive in his own way, he literally has the physique of a Greek God - it's just that he grimaces all the time. Then you have male protagonists like Drake, Link, (young) Snake, Cloud, Tidus, Leon Kennedy, Ezio... the list goes on. And Mario is a cute little plumber.

That being said, I got nothing.

I guess when you mean sexy babes, you mean sexualized female protagonists, not just regular female protagonists. Still, there are a few.

Ellie from the Last of Us, for reasons that should be obvious. Heather from Silent Hill 3. Faith from Mirror's Edge and Chell from Portal. I also don't consider Alyx Vance of Half Life 2 sexy at all (some people do and I guess different strokes for different folks).

Is a point trying to be made with this topic? I suppose a similiar thread might be, "Can you name one Male gaming protagonist who is an insufferable, unlikable, scumbag" (actually... let me start that )

Well, IMO, sexy and sexualised are different things. Sexy is being attractive while sexualised is when they are purposely designed to generated desire. I know plenty of people who would find Chell and Faith attractive, for instance, even though they weren't made for that purpose.

Hm... Heather, Alex, most of my female leads from Bioware, any female I get to create... I don't want sexy I want interesting and unique. Sometimes handsome - yes handsome. As for Oni's question Kratos is insufferable and the list could go for pages.

Well they make the characters sexy because it sells games. People don't want to buy a game where the people in it are ugly. Most male gamer's, myself included, buy the games with the sexy women on. Well depending on if it is a good game or not.

The characters are generally good looking regardless of gender. I never understood why it's become such an issue. I remember the "controversy" about the last Tomb Raider game and its leering camera and exaggerated grunting. I barely noticed it to be honest.

Just like movies, tv etc the majority of people tend to want attractive characters whether they be male or female. In a game where you are the protaginist, most people want to be attractive, or a monster, beast, etc, point being you rarely want your character to be realistic ugly.

If you were about to put yourself in a game, would you put in your real self, or would you drop some weight, add some muscle, maybe a little taller, bit more tanned etc etc? Same principle applies.

THat's exactly how I feel. I see enough average and ugly looking chicks in real life. I don't need to be seeing more of them in my video games. Imagine if Lara Croft was built like the fabulous sports babe, a gross, 300 pounder with glasses and rolls and rolls of fat. No thanks.
