Clean PS4 Controller

My brother spilled pancake syrup on my controller. Now the left analog stick is sticky and gets stuck sometimes. How is the best way to clean it? I tried using a wet tissue and a wet rag and it'll feel fine for a while but sooner or later, the analog stick sticks again.

I'm surprised it still works. I don't know what to tell you but I think the best way is to leave with it for now. Whatever it is, the stickiness will go off eventually because of repeated use. You can try to spray and wipe it with those alcohol cleaner and see if it comes off. Beware though as it might damage the cover.

The only part that had syrup was the stick and a little bit of the dpad. Luckily I had a case on the remote

Personally I'd take it apart and clean it. But if you're not that comfortable with that maybe try getting a toothpick with a little bit of tissue or napkin on the tip and wipe it out.

I agree but if they have already exchanged it what can they do? Request non sticky one back
I don't think they will do you?

I don't know what Sony's returns policies are. But if they're anything like Microsoft then they could ask to see the controller first before they send a new one out.

In the UK they do doorstep exchange IE they bring new and exchange for faulty product so kinda like continuous play unlike Microsoft that have product for 2 weeks before you get it back

Phone Sony and say it is faulty and see if they will exchange it for you
So you are advising them to call Sony and LIE about the controller's condition??? What will Sony say after they discover the truth? (if they do). NOT a very good way to solve a problem

I would take it apart and clean the base of the analog stick. It's probably deep down in there and no amount of surface cleaning will fix it. But do this at your own risk! Have a talk with your brother also. :P

If the DS4 is built anything like the DS3, it should be safe. Though it will probably still be complicated. They could try taking it to a repair shop. I'm sure things like this are a common occurrence.

As long as it's not like the SIXAXIS. I took that apart and the space separating the shoulder buttons fell out. Idk why it was a separate piece. It took forever to figure out how to put that thing back together. Taking apart controllers is risky, but sometimes you have to.

I think this new controller probably shares alot with the six axis dual shock 3 i too have had major difficulties getting one of those back together after dismantling to fit a new battery. the plastic supports around the sprung trigger buttons are a nightmare once they have come out of place.

in the old days of simple pc wired keyboards if we split anything on them we would put them in the dishwasher and then dry them on a radiator for a few days or a week untill your sure all water has evaporated and would be good as new.

Tried it with a modern wireless keyboard about a year ago - no such luck lol.

probably not a good idea to try the dishwasher technique on your ps4 controller unless its the last resort before the bin...
