Do I need catching up on the story?

I don't think you'd miss out on much story-wise, but they are still the best games on Playstation, so you might as well wait until the "HD Collection" or whatever comes out on PS4 and play them all in order.

If you really want to you could try the beta for playstation now. Still expensive but less than a new console.

None of the uncharted games are on playstation now. They were the first games I looked for. The reason why not is a mystery for me.
