Do you keep your games forever?

I keep a select few games that I either like picking up from time to time or I like showing friends. Often though once I'm done, I have no problem selling them.

It's really weird ... but I have extremely hard time separating myself from a game I always say that I will eventually play it again one day. I have not even sold Infamous 1, my first PS3 Thurs I do not know why, but I always have a small tear of nostalgia when I think back to the first time I put the disc in the console.

So no, I never sell my games. Anyway, when I go about buying games, I took care to make a game that appeals to me with which I can play for a long time.

I keep all of my games. Games I don't play anymore, I'll put them into a box in the basement. I do this because when I'm rich and wealthy one day, I'll have nothing to do except dig out old games and have a nostalgic trip.

Well I have most of the games I bought for my PS2. The older ones are all lost or were traded to friends for newer games. I am just too lazy to take the effort to sell them otherwise I would have done it.

I tend to keep most of my games for a long time. I keep the ones that I play a lot of til this day. Some of them I have sold or gotten rid of because I no longer play them or want them. Usually we beat a game and then sell it to get another game or keep it and get another game.

It takes a very particular situation for me to part with a game. For example there's a Best Buy trade-in offer right now where any 360, PS3, or Wii game can be traded for CoD: Ghosts, BF4, or the new Assassin's Creed. Normally if I wanted a new game and had a few old games worth trading in, I'd let go of them. As it stands right now though, I still have a ton of GameCube games, some Wii games, and some 360 games. They might be sticking around for a while.

It depends on the game.
If I like it a lot I keep it and replay it as many times as I want. If it's a single-player game and I don't like that much, I just trade it or sell it.

No, I trade games in if Gamestop has a good trade in deal going on. I can get better prices on eBay, but after fees and factoring time, it's really not worth it to me.

I plan on keeping GTA V for a while. I honestly don't replay games very often, so trading in games works for me.

I don't keep many games forever. The problem is a lot of games are pretty limited in terms of replayability, particularly in the past few years. And with sequels coming thick and fast, there's not really much reason to keep hold of them when a newer, better version comes out. With more games, I have to spend more money, and given that my income is pretty limited (university student living on loans, grants and a lucky scholarship), I have to finance in what ways I can - this means selling games from time to time.

There are some that I just can't bring myself to part with though, since I always come back to them years later to play them again. Some games just don't get old, or are very difficult/expensive to buy back should I ever regret my decision.

No, after a while, we end up trading them to friends or away to Craigslist or what have you. It's difficult keeping cases of plastic when you know you'll likely never use them again. I really wish we could all just start using all digital downloads...

Would have to say it really depends on the game itself because some games I play, enjoy and beat but then end up never touching again after the initial playings. Though GTA, Far Cry, and Hitman are examples of games that I do want to keep for a while to come even if I steadily play them less because I have not really lost complete interest in them just yet.

Trading or selling hardly ever seems worth it to me with the games that I have so more often than not I just keep them. The only way I can see myself parting with some of them if I'm lending them or just giving them away to a friend to try out. I don't think I've ever traded or sold a game that I have. My family still has a ton of old games for the NES, SNES, 64, PS1, PS2, etc.

The ones I buy physically, yeah. Unless I lend them to a friend or something, I have a shelf for keeping games. It's nice to have a collection.

To me it just really depends on the game. The niche titles I want to keep because they keep getting more expensive the longer they've been out, and I don't want to be stuck wanting to buy it again if I did sell. Other games that I know I won't play a second time, I usually just trade it to someone who wants it in exchange for a game I want to play.

I hallway have the idea of saving up my old games but it usually ends up that someone in my family would just throw them away after a few years. Case in point, my GameCube, PS2 and Xbox were given up to Goodwill when I came back from college.

Trade them in, mostly. I do keep a modest collection of games I hold dear to me though, dating back to the N64 era.

After I am done playing my games I try to donate them to kids that would appreciate them and may not be able to afford them regularly. I'm actually getting some games together for christmas. The way I decide what games to donate is a put all my games on one side of my entertainment center and when I take it out to play it I'll put the case on the other side of the shelf, which is my play pile. After a few months any games that are on the non play side I donate.

Unless I'm pretty sure that I won't be playing them again then I usually tade them in and buy another game with them. It reduces the cost of buying a game that I would rather be playing than the one I'm done with.
