Do you think the Steam Machine can compete with the Playstation 4?

I think Steam Machine (Or SteamBox xD) Is just Gaben being greedy. I really don't think it'll compete much against consoles.

I'd much rather have my PC rig, and just get a hdmi cable to the living room and use wireless hardware to get by.

I mean the only advantage is that you can run Steam on it and buy games at a lesser price with the sales, other than that it's probably gonna run just like an XBone or a PS4.

I have never really got what the deal is with Steam and at best it will be a small market item with no great appeal. Its kind of a fad item and it really doesn't seem to have its own niche - more of a crossover than anything.

I just bought Tomb Raider GOTY (22 DLC's included) for $7.49 US and could have skipped the DLC and paid $4.99 for it. Steam has fantastic deals all the time and great summer sales. I could pay $60 for the PS4 port of Tomb Raider or $5 for the PC port which runs 1080p beautifully and looks much better than the PS3 version. I suspect the PS4 version would be closer to the PC version.

Hey, and where else can you get Goat Simulator the game for $ bucks. Hilarious little time killer. It's not much of a game but is hilarious. I consider it a true Indie title!

I don't think the steam machine will be successful. It is an alright idea but I feel Gaben is just pulling at strings trying to make more money. Most people who prefer consoles will prefer the Xbox or PS machines and people who love PC gaming will stick to PC. PC gamers would never downgrade to a steam box as it doesn't make a lot of sense. Console players are just too fan boy-ey to give in and try it. People will buy it don't get me wrong but don't expect it to be the next big thing.

I doubt that the steam machine will be that popular if the spec are not good. It sound awesome but the price point is too high and the affordable ones are not very good. People would rather stick to PCs or console if they ever wanted one the of the steam machines. The steam machines are really pre made computers which are more compact. If they made exclusive games on the steam machine, them it would be considered but I doubt that anyone would make the games exclusive because they would be missing out on a big market share.

I am running Steam off my PC. In fact, I just ordered a couple NVIDIA GTX 780 as I have had problems with the Radeon R9s. The GTX 780 cost more than what many steam boxes will. I am really enjoying Steam a great deal and I have to say that I see why there are a dedicated group of PC gamers still because buying Tomb Raider for $5 is a crazy good deal. I did have it for the PS3 but kind of lost interest as I was playing Bioshock and then The Last of Us. This looks so much better than the PS3 version with it's low-res textures. I imagine the PS4 version looks closer to the PC version but I doubt it will look as good as the PC with Maximum detail in 1920x1080p.

If games comes out on the pc AND PS4, I will buy the PS4 version because of the fact that the PS4 version usually doesn't have as many bugs as the PC version simply because they have to develop for a ton od different configurations while all PS4s have the same configurations.

However, I quickly buy AAA games even from last year when they are $10 or less. It is just to deal to pass up.

I like all Sony consoles and the console will always be my preferred platform but the PC with the steam large format TV interface is extremely nice with the Xbox controller which is very nice to. a

The fact is that a mid range or higher PC with a decent graphic card absolutely blows away the ps4 in terms of performance but those Sony exclusives alone are worth the price of the PS4.

I THINK THE Steam Machine with be a great second system for people with PS4s. It will have most of the multiplatform console games and can have better graphics than the PS4 depending on the specs of the Steam Box.

I wish Steam boxes were made with the same cpus/gpu/RAM and other components to make it more console like. It certainly would make development easier.

I don't think the steam machine will become a real competitor for the PS4, most AAA titles are released for either both or only the PS4. The only area where the steam machine will have an advantage is indie titles but that's about it. I personally won't bother buying one because I'm not really a fan of indie games, but that's just personal preference and if you like indie games I would advise you to buy one as soon as it hits the market.

Right now the consoles that are out are already established within the gaming market so I cannot see anything else coming and taking them down. I can't say for sure though because this is life and anything is possible but I just cannot see it happening.
