End of split screen?

I preordered a second DS4 with my PS4 but so far it's been sitting on the table collecting dust until I manage to forget to charge my first controller. When are we going to get some fun split screen games I can sit down and play with my gf on the couch?

Hopefully eventually, but split-screen has been kind of... rare lately. It's really sad. I guess internet friends > local friends now?

I remember back in the good old days of Playstation 1 & 2 when games were made for their story mode and were almost always 4 player split screen with storyline co op available. Those were definitely the good days. I can't seem to understand the obsession over single player games now, hell, I was at a friends house this past weekend and out of the 7 PS4 games he had, only one of them was split screen and it was only 2 player. Co-op and 4 player split screen are two aspects of gaming that I feel are slowly fading away, and it makes me sad.

Yeah, for now there isn't any split screen games but I'm sure some games will eventually have them. Maybe getting less but there will be games that have split screen. I remember the good old days of the PS1 and PS2 when online multiplayer wasn't a thing yet. Me and my buddies would sit on the couch and play split screen all day. It's a dying art now, probably won't exist anymore after the PS4.
