Exclusive graphics vs multiplat graphics

After playing several exclusives and multiplats, I couldn't help but notice that on PS4, the exclusive games have significantly better graphics.

Infamous, Until Dawn, Order 1886, Uncharted 4(based on videos) all have amazing graphics which are much better than multiplat games such as assassins or watch dogs or etc...

I wonder if developers are lazy or they just cant have best of both consoles.
Personally I think third party publishers are getting lazy, they release lower quality products for easy cash. I think exclusive games have better quality because console makers (i.e. Sony and Microsoft) want to showcase their consoles in best possible way.

I really wish there were more exclusive games(like PS2 PS3 era).

What are your thoughts on this matter?

I don't think either Sony or Microsoft machines have shown their full potential yet. The best games usually come in the last couple of years of a consoles life. I have both PS4 and Xbox One so keeping an eye on both. :)

The view in the past at least is often a multiplat title is 'dumbed' down to the weaker console,so it appears the same on all.
But with the PS4 and XboxOne Im sure Ive read they dont do this,as we all know the 720P xbox one vs the 1080P PS4 one debate on some games.
Not only resolution but also effects etc,but the difference is probably not huge and I guess you have to see them running side by side to see the difference.
Still,I cant help but wonder if say the same game on one system really can look much better than on the other, perhaps we would see more of a difference? So maybe devs are really still holding back a little on optimizing it for the 'superior' system? Who knows...

I agree. It usually takes a few years for the developers to practice and unlock the full potential of the console. Not only that, but during the lifetime of the console, the game engines get more advanced which allows for better graphics and physics as well.

Yes and no. I don't doubt developers do do this to cut down on costs (much cheaper to have one level of graphics than have multiple teams do graphics per each console). But there have been titles I've seen comparison videos between PS4, PC and XBOne. And even subtle differences were there. A good example is MGSV. They tailored the graphics to the best they could do for each console and there are subtle texture differences between PS4 and XBOne. I guess it depends on how much work the developer wants to put in or if they're lazy :)

I think the developers are lazy and they dont wanna spend time for each console to make their games perfect. I mean if it looks crappy on all platforms then its no problem right?

Anyway even though this is not good for gamers, but I hope Sony and Microsoft land more exclusives so at least we can have better quality games.

P.S. I'm getting sick of these "shooting 12yo kids online" games. If I wanted to socialize or argue with someone I would go to a bar :P , when I play games I wanna drown in the world of the game and get involved with the story.

When I first got my PS4 and put Killzone Shadow Fall in I was amazed by the lighting and shadows. The game looked so amazing. I then hopped down from the first ledge and started to play a game that sucked, And sucked badly. While I see where you are coming from I don't think graphics make a game. Take Fallout 4 for example. If you buy a game just for mind blowing graphics you would pass on FO4. You would miss countless hours of amazing gameplay because you cant see the forest for the trees. GTA5 is another one you would miss out on. I will take a good story over graphics any day. That being said I did skip Duck Dynasty as it looked like something that could have easily run on my PS2. I think that putting games like Starwars Battlefront or Titanfall are the ultimate in laziness. If they cant even take the time to give me a single player story then they can keep it.

That was disappointing yes. If you never play MP then sure.
Though it does offer single player missions its not worth buying cause of that, unles you can find it very cheap in a bargain bin somewhere.

The upcoming Battalion 1944 looks like it wont have a campaign either.
Though it was also crowd funded and has exceeded backing needed so the devs can add much more now to add a SP campaign they needed much more, however a few publishers have now reached out to them with interest,so it is possibe they may get more funds needed from a publisher to add a SP campaign. If we are lucky.
For me,Ill prob still get it,as its back to basics online MP FPS set in WW2. Im a little tired of the last few CoD games being futuristic,so this does look very interesting.

yeah Killzone was terrible! Graphics are not everything, but why settle for less when you can have more? (Uncharted and last of us for example).
I completely agree with you about story over graphics, the problem is most of current games suck in that department as well.

As you mentioned GTA V is a good example of a perfect multiplat game.

In case of multiplats, I think that developers just level-down the games to the weakest console, because there must be no competition. PS4 is more performant & technically better so we will always be disadvantaged. In addition, PS4 is much more focused on games, while the Xbox misses only to serve you a banana milkshake. Recently though, with the latest OS upgrades, also the PS4 began to be much "social" and less "gaming". Imo, the so-called&advertized next-gen, still remains "next" because we didn't see it yet... lol.

"If you believe it, you can make it real, so why do I have to produce it?" :grin
