Final fantasy xiv coming out on august!

YESSS I'm so excited. Square Enix has announced they will be releasing a new Final Fantasy game on PS3 ($39.99) and PC ($29.99) on Aug. 27 and it's called Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn!!

Are you as hyped as I am?? I'm not too sure who the character is in the video running around at the beginning, but I sure hope he's not the main one. But from the looks of the characters on the poster of the collector's edition, the characters are looking pretty good in my opinion. Also, speaking of the collector's edition, I'm not much of a fan of buying those, but this one looks GLORIOUS. I might just have to stretch my wallet a bit and get me one of those.

I haven't really played any Final Fantasy title except for maybe a few hours of Final Fantasy XIII (which I enjoyed), but this game looks fantastic. The visuals and open world sell it to me.

Can anybody tell me is this anything to do with that failed Final Fantasy Online title that was released on the PS3 and PC about a year ago? Or is this a completely separate title?

I applied for the beta on the PS3 because i really want to try it out before buying it. The only thing that is keeping me from pre-ordering the game is the monthly subscription of 10$. I know that it's not that much, but after 1 year, you already paid for 120$ of something that i won't be playing every single day.

Uh, I hope that it would not be as linear as FFXIII. And what's the deal with the $10 subscription per month that you're talking about BlackSolaris? Is this required to play the game? I wouldn't want to pay that much just to play it. My Web host service provider charges a much lower monthly fee.

I don't get excited for Final Fantasy games like I used to. I suppose it's because you never really know what to expect from them anymore. I generally have lower standards when it comes to RPGs as long as they're fun and have a good story, though. I still haven't played Final Fantasy XIII, actually; but I'd like to.

Looking at the video gameplay, I would think that this is a MMORPG rather than an action console RPG like FFXIII. This looks like another attempt by Square Enix to go online after the disappointing FFXI. But I don't think I'll get it. At a price of a $10/mth subscription, I'm better off saving the money to get another game instead.

Yeah, it looks like it would be an MMORPG. Why is Square always looking into making an MMORPG for consoles? If it wants to make one, then make it for the PC. The Final Fantasy games are known for being traditional offline RPGs. I see that they would want to make a lot more profit by charging $10 per month. But would users be willing to dish out this much per month for an online RPG? For now, I don't think so.
