Gaming headset

I think if u want a wireless real surround, u will need to spend 200+ which i want to get soon! I f i can afford it.

Doesnt exist. TRUE surround is only wired. All the wireless ones with 5.1 or 7.1etc are actually 'virtual' surround
However if there is much or any difference is another matter.

Oh, i thought the astro A50 was real surround. I guess i was wrong!

I use the white Gold headset. I really like this headset and the downloadable settings are cool feature. Battery life is not too bad either.

I have the Sony Stereo Wireless headset (the one they came out with right before the Pulse). It has 7.1 virtual and it's really good especially for the price. I'm sure it's no where near as good as true 7.1 but I A) did not want wires, B) spend hundreds on a headset :) For a very good quality headset for a good value, it's totally worth the money. Mine is also incredibly comfortable (played for 3 hours with it last night but have done sessions upwards of 6 hours with it) and battery life isn't bad. And I'm sure they've gotten better since my model.

That new headset Sony came out with not long ago looks good, the cheaper blue one. I may have to pick one up since I'm still using the one that came with the PS4.

Ok I've joined this forum to try get some help on what headsets to get. I used to use wired turtle beaches on xbox 360 and never had any problem. I'm obviously now on ps4 and at the time being in using the standard chat mic which came with it. My mate who I play with has recently brought two headsets and isn't happy with either mainly due to how complicated it is to adjust the sound volume as you can't just use the dial on the headset you have to go onto ps audio settings (oh and he sounds stupid so there's no way I'm getting the ones he's got). I've been looking around a lot for a while now and just can't decide what to get. I was thinking about just spending 20£ on ones I used to use on 360 and see if I can get them to work with a ps4 chat cable or do I spend up to £100 on a wordless headset which should be easy to set but all have mixed reviews mainly due to problems with chat. I basically want a headset that has good game sound but better chat.

I went all in on a set of Astro A-50's a few months ago, and they have been amazing. They work perfectly with bot my ps3 and ps4, and are 100% wireless.

I'm looking at the A-50 too, looks like the premium PS4 headset to buy but they are kinda pricey. Do those have to be plugged into usb port? Or can I just use optical directly from the back of the system?

Right now I have the Logitech G-930 that a friend gave me but it only works in stereo mode with the PS4. I also ordered the Sony Gold ones for 7.1 virtual surround setting. What I don't get is why can't they just make a good quality BLUETOOTH headphone, I totally hate having a usb dongle sticking out of the front of the system. Completely kills the aesthetics of the console. Even a rear usb port would be an improvement.

Dont have them myself but I believe you can have wired on wireless.Wireless will have a USB dongle on the PS4.
Also, the optical port is for the surround sound,so the A-50 connects to a processor/decoder box,and then that is connected to the optical port of the PS4.At least thats how it works on my Sharkoon headset.
At least that way you would have surround sound, any other way (including plugging into the DS4 3.5mm jack) will only give stereo sound.

Because unlike the PS3 the PS4 does not support wireless bluetooth chat.
I hope this can be added in a future software update for some reason I doubt it.
I dunno why Sony did this,as to me not including bluetooth chat support is a step backwards.

Hi guys,
I apologize if I'm duplicating some post but I wasn't able to find answer anywhere...

I'm seriously considering Sony Gold Wireless Headset but I'd like to use it along with my Sony Bravia LCD TV... Found comments that it is not possible with Gold headsets...?

Or is there any workaround?
Or shall I go for Pulse Elite instead? I like them as well. Anything I should be aware of before getting these?

Thanks for all replies...

Sorry, just looked at this now.

The mix amp is powered by usb, but that power does not have to come from your ps4. However, in order to use the PS4 chat function, you will need that usb mixamp cable plugged into the PS4 because the chat comes across it as well.

The downside is you obviously lose a USB port on the PS4.

The upsides

- You can charge your headset with the PS4 in stand by/rest mode.
- You gain full wireless for chat and game play. Something that is not even possible on either xbox platform with this headset.

The mix amp also has a 3.5mm headphone input that you can stream music or any other audio source into at the same time.

Note, if you use computer chat services for gaming (Skype) you can still use this headset entirely wireless. You would plug the USB power/chat cable into the computer, and then the optical would come from your PS4 to the mix amp.

Just got the Sony Gold headset, very small usb dongle, sounds great but I could use more bass. Volume is not that high either. I guess it's fine, it does come with 3.5 in line built right in the cans so I use it with my phone. 7.1 with bluetooth would be great though. Gonna sell the g930, sounds great on pc but does not work on ps4, very limited functionality and no volume whatsoever. Shame, they seem very high quality.

Love my PX4's.. Took abit to setup since the instructions suck (had to look on Youtube to get it to work properly). But now that they are, they are awesome.

Sup everyone, new here.. But just wanted to say that I'm super satisfied with the AfterGlow KRAL headphones I picked up recently. They got well balanced but deep bass, and a mode for insane bass.. They're just a tad heavy, but overall comfortable. COD AW is mind blowing with this set.

Setup was super easy and all it needed was a small usb dongle.

Here they are looking sick

I've owned the Gold Wireless headset for a good amount of time now and it's great. Haven't had any real problems. Used it a lot with Destiny.

Here's a list of some really good headsets for PS4 http://techu4ria.com/3-of-the-best-headsets-for-ps4/ that might help you out.

The Gold Wireless headsets are very affordable and also work great with my gaming laptop. Just don't lose the USB stick!!! I wish they had a slot in the headset where you could store the USB stick. That may be the only con I can think of off the top of my head. Otherwise, well worth the purchase.

I've been using the Sony Gold headset since it released, and have nothing but good things to say about it! The construction is solid, although I do know two folks who admittedly are a bit rough on their gear say that it doesn't hold up. Additionally, I have ZERO issues with it being virtual surround sound and can easily identify where sounds are coming from, and their transition from side to side. The PS4 also offers an app where you can customize sound profiles rather quicky, which I use regularly for music/movies/Destiny.

Love 'em, that my 2 cents!
