Good fighting games for beginners?

Yes, you can combo punch and spam uppercut your way to victory in the early stages of Mortal Kombat. Better yet, you could press all the buttons rapidly in no particular order and get great results! And your in game character would probably look cool in the process too. Again, your in-game character, not you.

The thing about the majority of fighting games is that very few are actually good for "beginners" as they each have a certain level of depth to them and can take a while to master. Marvel Vs. Capcom does have an easy mode but in the end that won't be much of help as it will limit the variety of moves you can perform. Street Fighter is pretty simple to pick up, I would say easier than the Tekken series since it's 2D. Still, it does have a massive level of depth to it.

Yeah I have found that Super Street Fighter IV is more welcoming then Tekken. I picked up the combos more easily and having a good time thus far. I'm going through Arcade as Ken and I cannot for the life of me get past the third stage!

Trust me, I hate button mashing. To me, it's a waste of time. Why get a game if you're just going to spam one or two buttons constantly!

I have some friends who are like that. They just want to see their character to be able to dish out some random special attack. Some of them just want to get past to the next level and they think that button mashing is key. Most of these button mashers are girl friends while there are some who are guys.

It seems like button mashing is easy to do in just about any game, unless of course you're the one doing it. I was playing a game recently and I figured I may as well press all the buttons at once over and over, and I ended up getting killed pretty much instantly. Beginners luck for the people who do succeed in button-mashing, if you ask me.

Yep, I've played Playstation All-Stars Battle Royal quite recently actually and it was quite fun Didn't know you could customise your own characters in Soul Calibur. Is Soul Calibur V easy to get into to? (harder or easier then say Super Street Fighter IV)

I think it is easy to get into, the story is always easy to follow and the gameplay is fun. I have always been a Soul Calibur fan so I could just be biased. Street Fighter has harder controls from what I heard though.

I did play Soul Calibur IV well, actually I think it was a demo for the game but I remember liking it for it's simplistic controls. Maybe I'll give Soul Calibur V a go!

I agree that the ability to design your own character is a lot of fun. You could even put different accessories and change the clothes. I don't really care much about the story though. It's not its strongest point. Then again, what fighting game has its story as the strongest point?

Soul Calibur IV was pretty good, but you might find Soul Calibur V not as good as SC IV, character-wise at least. I'm still waiting for Soul Calibur VI I'm definitely going to be buying.

Maybe I'm just really bad at it, but once I got past the first part of Soul Calibur IV's story, I couldn't even play. It was far too difficult, and that was even after memorizing several moves for several characters. The only times the characters I picked would win is when I wasn't using them. I just don't get how it goes from being relatively easy to being soul-crushingly difficult.

Really? I haven't played in awhile, but I don't recall it ever being that difficult. But there are difficult levels to complete. Soul Calibur V's story is also fairly short.

I've been watching some gameplay of SoulCalibur V and it looks decent. I noticed that Xbox has a demo for SoulCalibur IV so I might download it there and see how it goes I imagine IV and V won't have much difference between the two gameplay wise?
