Help a girl out? PS4 controller problems :/

Okay, so I'm too broke to own a PS4, so my boyfriend lent me his so that I could play Mirror's Edge Catalyst (a game I've been waiting for ever since the original came out). ANYWAY my tv doesn't have HD, so I ordered an HDMI to AV converter, hooked it up, and everything worked fine! Played for an hour, turned off the PS4, left, came back, played for another two hours, and then suddenly the controller stopped working in the middle of my game. I couldn't move or hit any buttons.

The light on the controller was off, so I plugged in the charger. The light flashed orange once, and that was it. I unplugged it, hit the PlayStation button on the controller and it turns blue as though it's connected to the PS4, but still none of the buttons work!

I've tried turning off the PS4, resetting the controller, and plugging in the charger to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Could it have something to do with the HDMI to AV converter? Did I break my boyfriend's very expensive toy? :(

Any help is appreciated.

I don't see any reason why using the HDMI to AV converter will ruin the controller. I doubt that that's it. Most likely, it's a problem with the controller communicating with the PS4. You did everything right in terms of trouble shooting. Did you try switching the cables? Could be the cable you are using isn't charging the controller. When you hold the PS4 button, what does the charge show?

Andromeda, are you sure that your controller is properly charged?

The orange light which flashes during recharge, does not flash just once, but it keeps on flashing untill the controller is recharged, then it turns off.

You should have an USB cable too, to connect your controller to your PS4 directly. Connect them and you will be able to play again.
